So a couple of weeks ago I made a community post asking you guys about what you needed help with the most right now and the most upvoted comment basically was asking about how to get things done when you don't feel like it or when you don't have the right mindset. This video is about how to get stuff done by changing the stories that you tell yourself. I've used this method many times throughout the years to get work done consistently without procrastinating.

After a long research on this subject the most solid answer I was able to give myself was CREATE HABITS. No matter how good the story we tell ourselves is it is not enough. Example : If you start working out on APRIL in order to get a six-pack to look cool for the summer (not so deep goal ik) you can stay committed to this goal for a week but soon you will fall back to laziness. But if you insert working out to your habits then when the motivation from your story runs out you will stay committed because that's what you got used to do. This applies to absolutely everything. Habit is an insane mechanism to master your body-mentality avoiding their weaknesses.

@@ImprovementPill Of course. Don't get me wrong I am not underestimating the "story". We are humans after all not habit repeating robots we need some color in life. But we can use robotlike behaviours to protect ourselves from the human distractions.

@@ImprovementPill Hi i too believe a story will help. However i feel theres a certain part in our brain embedded within all of us that overtime convinces you and persuades you more and more to reasons why you should chase short term pleasures such as video games, tv, drugs instead of doing the work that will help us achieve our story (long term pleasures).

Im a personal believer that Motivation and Discipline can't thrive without the other. I see Discipline as the vehicle that gets you to your goals and Motivation as the fuel for the vehicle. Because we want to achieve are goals of self improvement for a reason and reason alone doesnt get you to your goals, you need to put in the work for that.

This is so true, we subconsciously think and act upon the stories we tell ourselves until they become our reality. In addition to having a story that inspires hope, it’s also critical to identify the negative stories we tell ourselves that are self deprecating and find counterargument stories to refute those. As someone who has frequently experienced the imposter effect, I have found this to be extremely helpful!

Awesome work, mate. You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned stories. I work in a clothing store that I hate, so I been using this time to improve Web design skills thanks to this quarantine. I'm dreading going back to work, but sometimes that story isn't enough to maximise my time efficiently. Perhaps because it is hard to get the job I really want to do, so I think what's the point? But I know that story is an insidious trap, even if the rewards don't come fast enough.

What I got from the video is that it is essential to have some source of motivation in order to be productive and get things done even when we are not like doing them . Maintaining a positive mindset and having an inspiring story or dream is the key. I personally have a story that is all the time pushing me forward and keeping me on my a game and that is being a great teacher , a better person ,and generating wealth down the line to support myself, and my family ❤

Summary Of The Video The stories you tell yourself and believe in essentially make up the mindset you have about life. Without a proper story it is pretty much impossible for you to get things done at a consistent rate for a long period of time. This is because the stories you tell yourself are actually your source of motivation. It will be hard to sacrifice instant gratification for your future self because the phrase "What's the point" is going to be constantly linked in the back of your mind. In order to combat this you need to find a new story that you can buy into. The only requirements for your story are it should be a story that you find believable and a story that inspires hope where the future is better.
