The only good General you have is Baibars for Double Drops. Do not buy any General aside from Gold, and then only if it has abilities that will help your style of play. The good ones cost about 60,000,000 gold, but you will never afford to buy them if you keep buying crappy ones. And Check those boxes that warns you If you get an Epic General

you can check general skills in portraits. you can also ask your alliance members which generals to get.. gold is hard to come by

To add onto this tip, when hunting I usually check the (historical general) box in the Tavern it came in the new update and its very useful when burning 50k gems to find a few generals.

Epic historic generals are the only ones really worth recruiting

I wouldn't say 'only' (especially earlu on when the easy to get but not _quite_ as good Purples make fair replacements; like using Cleopatra as a cheap Bailibars until you get him) but it's certainly a good rule of thumb

So I've been playing about three weeks, and my tavern is lvl 18. I just dumped 22k gems into this looking for an epic historical general, after saving up every day and hitting the 30 mill gold mark. Nothing there. I saw Jefferson a few times (purple) and Joan of arc, who I had to buy cause I couldn't resist. Is this normal?? 22,000 gems and no pop for an epic historical. Yes plenty of normal oranges and purples but no historical. Am I missing something? Just bad luck??

Ouch! Im still noob at this game but all i know is always stay ("BUBBLED") in truce agreement all times (if possible) and maybe try wait until your tavern is lv 25 for more higher chance of Historical generals to pop up for less gems, although i have herd of some players getting historical gens out of Lv.17 Tav. very lucky i'd say lol, My Tav is only Lv.26 and I get offered 2 Historical Generals at the same time worth 38m each for under 500gems of refreshing . so for now keep upgrading your keep to lv.25 as main priority for now. try join alliance that loves running boss rallies that u can join to help u grow quicker. hope this helps you in someway
