HOW TO GET THE BEST VIEWS ACROSS DARTMOOR! WILD CAMPING ON KESTOR ROCK!
Day 2 of our Dartmoor hiking trip (Here’s day 1 incase you missed it: • WILD CAMPING DARTMOOR ... and we woke up to the most stunning views across of the northern and eastern areas of Dartmoor National Park. Thankfully no cows, sheep or any other wild animals paid us a visit as we slept through the night.
We slept on top of Kestor Rock and from here hikers get the most beautiful panoramic views. This spectactular viewpoint is understandably popular for hikers but as we woke at sunrise we had this amazing spot to ourselves for hours before any hikers made their way over to this remote spot.
We then set off on another beautiful day of hiking and the day got even hotter than the previous day so water supply soon became an issue yet again for us on our hiking adventures until the kindness of locals saved us!

A British couple from just outside London, England. We got married in 2018 and decided instead of a honeymoon we’d travel the world together. We saved money and travel points, quit our jobs, rented our house out and boarded a one way flight. We started this KZfaq channel to share our experiences with friends, family and anyone who plans to travel to the places we’re visiting. We leave TKT tips/facts on our vlogs and blogs to give information that we wish we’d had before visiting. We hope you find our content useful :)

Quite an adventure. Great to see Dartmoor & especially that view you woke up to! Wow! Perfect weather you had for it too. Those tree roots really DID look like an old man!!! Bet it was SO good to get in that river! Lovely.

Glad I’m not the only one that thought it looked like an old man. Began to think a few days in the wild was causing me to see things😄 getting in the river at the end was so good! 😌

Still can't believe you camped there, that's awesome! OMG a turkey farm! That's too funny, I didn't know how loud they were :) Those cattle are so handsome! Your first camping experience was definitely successful, you should be proud, worth the pain!

What an adventure!! It's so neat that you can go wild camping in the fields with cattle and other animals. That was really nice of the stranger to give you extra water. The cows are cute but they are loud! Wow. All the river views were so pretty and calming. Glad you made it!!

We gradually built our way up from wild camping in a van on the side of the road to full wild camping in a tent surrounded by animals 😂 the van was less scary but the tent was more rewarding with views of the sky at night and landscape by morning!

Hey guys, so glad there were no cow incidents over night 😆 I (Jamie) probably would have dreamed about the cows. Who would have thought there would have been a grassy area big enough for a tent there! The turkeys! I would have loved to see them run from the building😁

I totally didn’t think there would be a grassy area up there big enough but Craig was so hopeful that there would be, thankfully he was right as we were getting pretty tired. As a vegetarian I wanted all the turkeys to be free! Strangely the one that was free just seemed to want to be back with his friends🦃

Well done for surviving that campsite 😅 I was complaining when Craig took me camping at a site with no electricity, but at least we had bathrooms etc 😂 Must’ve been amazing waking up there with those views 🥰 Woah! So. Many. Turkeys! Yay for pooh sticks! I think Kirsty won 😂

GUYS! What a super fun adventure - we’ve only wild camped a handful of times in a roof tent. I lolled at the cows just chillen on the side of the road. Also did you not freeze your butts off in that river!? Can’t wait to watch the snowdon one - we climbed snowdon earlier this year and it was amazing. See you next time 👋
@TideKnotTravellers
@TideKnotTravellers 2 жыл бұрын
We’ve only wild camped in a van until now, I would say this was more exciting and actually nicer because we laid out of the tent at night and the stars were amazing, zero light pollution on Dartmoor made for the best stargazing experience ever! The cows definitely have personality 😂 yes that river was pretty cold but we needed it after two days of hiking. Thanks for watching guys, did you get much of a view when you climbed Snowdon?
@EmilyandTom
@EmilyandTom 2 жыл бұрын
@@TideKnotTravellers Yeah I can imagine that would be amazing - would love to wild camp properly some time! Lucky you had no cloud cover haha. We actually didn't get any views from Snowdon the day we went haha - it was extremely foggy and windy with a little bit of rain which was a little disappointing but we did it for the challenge. Our first vlog we did was about the Watkin path if you want to check it out if you're considering different routes! Have a lovely week x

@@TideKnotTravellers do! I think it's meant to be the most scenic route - what path did you guys do? We originally wanted to do Crib Gough but it was just too dangereous and I had thrown my back out that week haha

@@EmilyandTom ahh I found the Watkin path online last night after you said about it here. We did the Pyg track which is along the Crib Goch, you definitely made the right choice avoiding that one if your back wasn’t good, the views were beautiful but the first section was quite tough😅

Kind strangers. Wild turkey. (No, not the really bad liquor.) This is gonna be good. As usual for you, stunning views!! You're right, no hotel room can provide that. WOW. (And glad the cows didn't cause issues. Though you could have enjoyed one of Wisconsin's favorite mischief activities, cow-tipping. No, never done it ourselves.) (OK, sprinted upstairs to make lunch, back.) Craig, winner winner chicken dinner...or wait, Kirsty, you won? I think we need instant replay/V.A.R. Nice race on the waters! (OK, back upstairs...BRB) I want that path sign. Because life.

Cow tipping sounds interesting, can’t see me getting close enough to do that though😅 Instant replay/VAR needs to be a thing for us and our competitive games of pooh sticks 😂
