I flew my Phantom 3 Standard today for the first time in several weeks in the park nearby. After calibration, it said "Atti" mode and did a recalibration. This time it flew normally with GPS at 200 feet. I use the same settings for the camera too, Carson.

I use a usb cable from aircraft to computer also...Good video Carson!..Dang you came in awful hot on the hand landing!!..For me to get the best high quality i just need to remember to hit the record button when flying!!!.hahah..dangit i have forgot so many times!!

I saw D-Log on the video settings which is great! That was my biggest question with the P3S. D-Log delivers a much softer image with more info to help when I color grade my videos. I would be color grading most of my drone videos because I want that cinematic look. Thanks for the helpful video!

Oh yeah absolutely! I've personally never shot with it (because i'm lazy and don't wanna have to mess around with LUTS and color grading) but I'm sure it works great for that purpose!

Have you had any problem downloading pictures from the app? I have the phantom 3 standard as well and I used to be able to download the original picture from the app but lately it hasn't been working for me.

I'm having an issue where my footage has a line or I guess you could say a digital aberration that goes from top to bottom of the footage contantly. I have it set to 5-Hz instead of 2 Hz. Which is standard, I think. Could the Hz setting even be possibly causing this?

hey carson. i have a queston on how you can get the max range out of the P3S. on my DJI Go app the drone has a maximum flight limit of 500m and it will not fly past that although with your range test video you reached 6000ft. how do i get my drone to achieve maximum distance without the annoying 500m limit. thanks

Good video for noobs. I shoot in d-log which is sort of like shooting in RAW. I then apply a LUT and a spot of colour grading with Davinci Resolve. Comes out looking great. Davinci Resolve is a very powerful and FREE editor, LUT's can be found on the Ground Control website.

hi carson, I got a p3s recently and its video is very choppy, i shoot at 1080 25fps shutter speed 50 etc all recommended settings but its just very choppy from micro sd on my laptop, i thought it might be my laptop so i downsized a video and it was still choppy, also my iphone videos at 60fps are really smooth, im a little bit let down :(, ill try with a faster shutter speed soon, im using the micro sd that came with the drone so i take it that must be fast enoungh. if you view a video in say vlc is it super smooth or jerky when panning etc? thanks

Hmm that is very strange indeed...although I’m not entirely sure if you’re meaning the entire video is choppy? Or only when you pan with the camera? If it’s the entire video that is being choppy, I would suggest trying a couple more things first: a.) Use a different micro SD card reader the one that came with it may be messed up. b.) Try a different micro SD card. c.) Try reading the micro SD card using a completely different computer. If you were meaning that the choppiness only ever happens when you are planning the camera on the drone, try moving the camera slower when panning/tilting it. Also, I know you’re likely going for a “cinematic” look by shooting at 25fps but I would suggest taking the frame rate up and that may fix the choppiness as well. Hopefully this is able to help you out in some way!

great, just use the mini usb socket on the camera, not the one on the bird chassis with the cover

Carson, that works too, but the download via the USB to your computer takes about 5 minutes. Now I just use the SD card and adapter which is fast and smooth.

I insert the SD card from the Phantom into my phone, import those files to the go app from the SD card, looks a lot better. Still not sure I'm getting the best quality however. Thanks for the video, I need to change my video settings in the GO app.

Do you really need an adapter? Because at the gimbal is a slot for a micro USB cable. Is the quality the same if you import it via cable compared to the adapter?

I don't think you do need it anymore actually because many people were leaving comments on this video about how they get their videos and photos from just plugging a USB cable into the gimbal and being able to access the SD car from there!

Hey Carson, I'm confused about something, First of all, If I want to get the highest quality on my DJI Phantom 3 Standard, if you buy it for the first time, There is also another SD card inside of the camera, what do you do with that? Second question, I have a HP laptop not a macbook so if I want to edit videos, where do i put the micro SD card ( The bigger one of the smaller one), and the last question ( Sorry about all the questions ) , How did you instantly have better footage on the laptop? And Today when I opened the SD card pack, It came with a password, what's the password for?

Sereen Aridi the sd card that comes with the drone is 8gb do you can use it for recording but it dosent have much video storage so I would recommend a 64gb micro sd card

How in this world are you using the go FOUR app for a phantom 3 standard? They aren't compatible, or at least that is what I have been told many times. I would much rather the 4 app than the original, so could you show me how to rig that up? Thanks

It is not the DJI Go 4 app. It’s just the iOS version for the P3S is much better than the one for Android.

Carson you can just download it straight from your dji go app , you just need to be connected to your drone and controller , there is no need to use the computer or take out the sd card @ Carson Miller

As long as you have an SD card in the drone that has space on it, the drone/app will automatically choose the SD card

You have your camera set to PAL ( 25fps ) which is the European format you need to change to NTSC ( 30fps )

Also I shoot in D-Log. The video is really grey but it's DJI's "RAW" and you are able to do a lot of correcting to it.

I watched a couple of your vids, you should stop shooting especially drone shots in auto whitebalance and auto exposure. ruined a few of your shots/for the very least it was really noticeable.

I don't think you need to keep removing the sd card there is a micro-USB slot connection right above the camera gimble underneath that protective cover, plug that into your USB, PRO TIP

If that's happening, it's likely that your computer graphics aren't powerful enough to display 2.7K :/.

Carson Miller I just got my P3 and you can record 60 fps if you step the resolution to 720p. My experience has been that the video quality at 720p is bad enough in comparison to the 2.7k that the higher frame rate is not worth it, but YMMV.

Meh. My personal opinion on vivid is that it’s too over saturated and just doesn’t look right. I didn’t explain much of why I keep mine on normal, but the reasoning is because I’m more of a believer in post color correcting which is quite often the better option considering you can color the footage to look like the rest of your video. However, sometimes I’m lazy so I don’t get to coloring and in that case, I just use the original footage shot in normal which most closely matches my other cameras. I would say just use what works best for you, but I like the way that normal looks more than the vivid does when I’m combining it with other shots.
