In this week's Spanish Breakfast Show livestream, Skatz asks resident relocation specialist Chris from Upsticks how to get through both the Visa appointment at the Spanish Embassy and the Residency appointment in Spain.

@@youtoospain Thanks for the reply, Skatz. I have watch the video but my situation is quite particular. I actually asked the question this week in the video but I did not explain myself well. I am going to arrive into Seville in October on a NLV. I have to secure a fingerprint appointment (toma de huellas) to get my TIE card. For this I think I first need to empadronarse and to empadronarse I need an address. The problem is that I am going to be moving around Spain a lot. Can I empadronarse using a 1 month AirB&B contact in Seville or do I need a 6 month contract to empadronar? I hear you only have a month to get the TIE but I do not want to commit to a 6 months contract. I am still in the UK.

@@BRIYONCE1 Hmm, that’s a tricky one. You’re right that the snag is the 6 month contract. I’m not sure there’s a workaround for that, unless you can persuade someone to say you’re living in their house so you can get on the Padrón then use that as your virtual home as far as paperwork is concerned. That way you’re free to move around without changing your Padrón all the time.

Hi . Question on NLV . Once you have been granted your NLV for the first year , can you fly back to the UK and back to Spain , will the Airport officials at Malaga let me back in , and how many times can you travel in a year. Thanks Richard .

Yes you can travel. Once you have your residency and TIE card, you show that with your passport when travelling in and out of Spain and they shouldn’t stamp your passport. You can spend up to 6 months out of Spain in a year, but in the first 5 years while you’re a temporary resident you can only spend a total of 10 months outside Spain, otherwise you may not be able to become a permanent resident. The idea of residency of course is that you want to live there.

where do I apply for a Spanish long-term work visa and how ( if it's on the Spanish consulate/embassy can you leave a link because I seem to be going in circles)? what documentation would I need to provide as im a Uk citizen with a job out in Tenerife that needs me and I have a nie number?

@@buttersjack09 okay. It’s his company that needs to sponsor you and get a work visa for you. It’s not easy. He would need to show that he had advertised the job to EU citizens first.

@@buttersjack09 that’s probably not going to be visible to the whole of the EU. Unless he’s looking for a tattoo artist with very specific skills and he’s prepared to go through the process of getting you a work visa then I’d say the harsh reality of it is that you have very little chance of making it happen. Does the guy know what hoops he would have to jump through?

If youre moving to Spain for a year and need to apply for a student visa do you need to pay for health insurance?

Yes, healthcare insurance is mandatory for students. For everyone really but some people get it through other methods.

Hi mate I would like to move to spain Málaga by the end of the year with my wife and daughter, We hold British passports, I work offshore for a British company and also have a flat in Malaga, could you please advise me what should I do first? Embassy from Spain or apply once we get there, etc.. Thanks in Advance for your help mate

Hi, you would apply at your nearest UK embassy. But first I would visit www.Upsticks.es and request a free callback from Chris to see what your visa options are. He’s my regular expert guest and he’s based in Malaga.

Yes but it’s a slightly different size from the UK one so get it done in Spain. It’s the same size you need for the Spanish driving license.

@@youtoospain Thanks. So is European citizen residency done in two appointments? One at the foreign office(approved )and then to the police station? Photos needed when going to police station for fingerprints , card preparation etc? Or is it done in one appointment and everything is completed?

@@Andy-in-Spain I know there are a few stages in my case because I have to get my NIE before registering for Autonomo, then get my digital signature, and eventually when all of that is sorted I go for the residency appointment. Then Liz has to go through something similar. It's all relative to your situation. Chris will talk you through it.

@@youtoospain I have everything to go. NIE, Padron , Nota simple and all the bank statements etc. I’m ready to make that appointment . I’ll get photos anyway and see if they direct me to police National after. Thanks
