How to get to Canton Fair (Guangzhou) from Hong Kong by high speed train

I travelled from Hong Kong Kowloon West train station (香港西九龍站) to Guangzhou East station ("Guangzhoudong", 广州东站) on the new high speed train. From the Guangzhou East station I continued my journey to the Canton Fair (广交会) by Guangzhou metro. The Canton fair metro station is called Xingangdong (新港东).
In this video I walk you through the whole journey in a detailed way all the way from taking a taxi to the Kowloon West Station to walking in the front yard of the venue Canton fair (also known as China Import and Export Fair).

Actually the railway to Guangzhoudong is still the regular rail with speed limitation 160kph and it will take 1.5h from hk to Guangzhou. The rail to Guangzhounan is the real new high speed one with 300+ kph and only needs 45 min. However, Guangzhoudong is in the downtown and you will still need another 40 min from Guangzhounan to downtown in subway.

That's pretty fast. Consider how much time it took 10 years ago from HK to Guangzhou, the saving is more than double.

You are right! The way back was even faster. I took the return train from Guangzhou Nan (south) -station.

Thanks. Hope you have a good trip! In this video I went to Guangzhou East station (Dong), but you can also take the train to Guangzhou south (Nan) to go to Canton Fair. Those are different trains though.

alight at guangzhou which station? there are gz main. east, south, north stations. tks

I think the fast trains go to guangzhouddong (east) and guangzhounan (south). The train connection to south station is faster.

I think best you go 1-1,5h before your train departure.

Great, hope you will have a good trip! To my experience the difference between 1st and 2nd class is pretty small in size and comfort.

@@villemajanen thanks a lot to your video gave me some idea how crossing to GZ via HK works. Luckily we went early, there are 2 immigrations go through... GZ food is so delicious 😋
