How to get to the cta train from Chicago’s O’hare international terminal 5

In this video I walk the viewer from the international arrival area of the Chicago O’Hare airport (terminal 5) to the CTA Blue line train station at the airport. The Blue line takes passengers from the airport to downtown Chicago ( the loop) and destinations in between as well as Forest Park ( where it terminates ( past the loop).
So for any international passengers arriving at O’Hare, this video hopefully is useful and valuable for those wishing to get to the downtown loop area by using the CTA train.
The loop is the area of downtown chicago and is a favorite destination for many tourists to the Windy City. So taking the blue line from the airport is a popular way for visitors to reach the loop area.

The quickest way to get from T5 at O'Hare to the CTA station is as follows: From T5 arrivals look out for signs saying ATS or (Trains to city) Take the escalator up one level and take the ATS train to T3. When you get off at T3 take the escalator up and turn LEFT and walk to the elevators in the parking building. Take an elevator down to the "CTA level and follow the underpass to the CTA station. This way you can avoid actually going in to T3 - The entire trip takes about 15 minutes.

I will be taking Amtrak from Carbondale to Chicago Union station soon. I want to go to Aurora for 2-3 days stay. How do I connect to the train to Aurora from Chicago? And From Aurora I wish to go to Chicago Ohara. Must I take the Metra back into Chicago in order to return to Aurora or is there some stop on the Blue line I can get off at?

I was using my iPhone, and you are right it wasn’t hooked up to my gimbal. Apple claims it has an internal gimbal, but as I learned, it’s not very good.

So coming from CTA, I would have to go through terminal 3 first then travel through terminal 5 for international?

To get to terminal 5 by riding the ATS tram, you need to get on ATS at a designated stop. The stops being at each terminal, in your case,coming from the cta train, you will want to board the ATS from terminal 1,2 or 3. All would be locations to go to get on the ATS. Also, it is possible to take one of elevators near the cta O’hare station up to parking garage above the cta station. There should be walkways connecting the parking garage to each of the 3 domestic terminals to their respective departure area ( so walkways to each domestic terminal should be at level 2 parking I believe). These walkways also connect to ATS. In fact, they are the same walkways to ATS if you went from the domestic terminals to ATS. I don’t show the parking garage in this video, but is an option.

Yeah, I can imagine it can be confusing at first, the only reason I mentioned it is because it might save a couple of minutes, for some people that would be important. Anyway, good luck with your trip and stay safe.

1-3. The video takes you through the terminal 3 walk to cta. 1 and 2 are similar.

Haha, when you catch the ATS at terminal five it takes you either to long-term parking in one direction or to terminal three in the other direction . You’ll know very quickly if you went the wrong way.

@@TravGuideChannel : Yeah I always ask one of the staff for directions even though I've been through that airport many times over the years. It takes about 15 minutes to get from terminal 5 to the CTA train if you don't dilly dally.
