For the problem of the super dry "straw hair" from frequent shampooing, get a moisturizing shampoo (I love Suave Professionals Humectant Moisture) and in a hair coloring bottle, put in about 2 ounces coconut oil or safflower oil, 3 ounces of shampoo, and 3 ounces water. You now have 8 ounces of a very mild, super-moisturizing shampoo at minimal cost. The only commercial shampoo I found to have almost this much oil was "BotinOil" by Nexxus, and even that I had to dilute. Remember to SHAKE WELL BEFORE EACH SHAMPOO, as the oil will settle. "Humectress" conditioner by Nexxus also helped a lot, but after finding Suave's copycat "Humectant Moisture" was the same, I switched. I also learned from a cosmetologist that you can make your own leave-in conditioner simply by getting a small spray bottle (like Sally's sells) and adding a bit of good conditioner to water. (I used about 3 1/2 ounces water + 1/2 ounce conditioner.) Spritz on the drier areas of your hair each day before styling. Katiana, your hair is gorgeous! I finally got lazy and reverted to a one-step 40 Vol. peroxide + level 12AA blue high lifting toner for most of the time. For special occasions, I'll take the extra time, and always love the results!

For anyone who doesn't think that shimmer lights purple shampoo works. oh IT DOES. I think two years ago it was, it was the last day of my senior year of high school and me and my friend decided to bleach our hair our selfs, we both had dark brown hair with blonde(Carmel) high lights and so we were under the impression that if we just bleached our hair once and toned it then it would be super white like the girl in the video. Come to find out after drying out the bleach I looked like yellow bird. I was like crying so bad after realizing she didn't have any more toner or anything, and so I went home literally FREAKING the heck out cause my hair was PURE disgusting yellow, and so my sister (who has almost white hair) gave me the bottle of purple shampoo that this girl showed in the video and I LITERALLY spent 4 hours going in and out of the shower using it, waiting 15 minutes, washing it off, using it, waiting 15 minutes, washing it off, using it, waiting 15 minutes, washing it off OVER AND OVER and it literally got to almost the color of what this girl in the video has. So yeah, that stuff works. Except for the fact it was the most grueling process of my life. I would much have had rather just bleached it again and then used purple shampoo once lol

re: quick blue - it is very frustrating that the color of the bleach can be misleading, but blue and violet tonal bleaches help a lot when people have difficulty stripping warmer colors out of their hair. of the natural stages your hair goes through when lifting, red and gold are the most difficult/long staying - so that on top of a naturally warm color can make a white bleach less effective than one with a tone. what i suggest is using a violet tonal bleach as your base lift (for white you'll need to be at a pale yellow. violet works you closer to the yellow tones whereas blue is meant to phase up and out of more gold/orange tones) and prior to rinsing, use a wet washcloth to rub a bit off of a certain area so that you can see what color your hair has actually lifted to. the added cool tones in a bleach help SO MUCH, i promise! just remember to never lift longer than 45 minutes as that is bleach's maximum lifting time. any longer and it stops lifting but continues to damage the hair. the best bleach i've used thus far is pravana's, which comes with a violet tone. that said, it can be a little more harsh on the hair. good luck in your future! i'm a fellow white haired lady and a cosmetologist, and i think your tone/advice are on point. (sorry if you addressed any, i paused the video specifically to write about tone bleaches vs plain white ones.)
@KatianaGrace9 жыл бұрын
Alright. I know that cool toned bleaches are supposed to be better, I was just tired of my mom telling me it looked ready to wash out and then seeing by the end that it was still really golden. But maybe doing the technique with a wet washcloth to check the color would be a good trick to suggest to her :)

this was super helpful, thank you so much! I STRONGLY recommend forgoing shampoo as much as you can and instead washing your hair with conditioner only. if you really scrub it into your roots well it gets rid of a lot of the extra oil, I only shampoo my hair once every week and a half or so.

I was thinking about getting silver accents here and there. Like maybe tips and in my bangs, leaving the rest black.(BTW you are so perfect *^* and you really inspire me.)
@KatianaGrace9 жыл бұрын
That could be cool. Just know the ends of your hair is the hardest part to get that color. I wouldn't have been able to do that because I ended up chopping off all the ends of my hair because of how damaged they ended up and now orange they stayed. But if your hair isn't dyed black like mine was, it's maybe more possible.

*how orange they stayed

Ah, thank you I'll keep that in mind. Yeah I think if I let it go back to my natural color (kind of a medium brown) I could bleach what I wanted to dye silver and then dye the rest black again and it not be as harsh. (If that made sense haha I'm bad at explaining)

Hey, you say about the shimmering lights shampoo, I've tried it and three other purple shampoos with good reviews and I always get patchy results, no matter how much I lather it up or however long I leave it on for. I used the t18 wella toner three times and my hair is still extremely yellow :( what can I do?
@rrosa20043 жыл бұрын
it is not light enough. Your hair is probably a level 7/8 or 9 and wella t18 only works on level 10 hair. If you bleach it again with a 20 volume developer it should work with the toner. If it still doesn’t work you may want to consider using a clarifying shampoo to remove silicone build up (that can be a reason too why the toner doesn’t work) or try another toner
@Metalann829 жыл бұрын
How do you stop the wella t18 from turning violet? I always end up with a strong violet tint after leaving it in for nothing more than 15 minutes, using 20 vol developer. It does fade, and I use silver shampoo to keep up the cool tone that eventually comes in, but the first week after I've done my roots and toned it, is so annoying because of the violet tint that always shows up! I've tried the t14 but it just turned my hair a mushy greenish gray. I just want a white toner that turns my hair white and not purple!
@DevilishDaysxMaui9 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue! I've found that if I mix a quarter part of the T18 with the cooling Violet at a 1:1 ratio with regular developer, it doesn't go too Violet! The only thing is that the upkeep comes back quick after a few washes and you have to tone it again

I'm a professional hair stylist and all this means is that you need to bleach your hair again. I wouldn't do this all in the same day unless you don't mind cutting some of your hair off. But with dark hair t has to go through stages when it's being bleached. It will go to red, orange, yellow, pale yellow then it can be toned. If you wanted to you could just tone your hair with a blue toner, that would get rid of the orange but it would darken what you got to a yellow
@DianaKimberly8 жыл бұрын
omfg please don't listen to the person telling you to bleach again! I went through the same thing and I did bleach it again and when I didn't like the result I did some research so here's how to do get rid of the yellow / orange in a easy and cheap way :) 1- tone it (I recommend a WELLA toner t18 to get a silver almost grey color or t10 for white) leave it for 30 minutes and voila ! 2- you don't have to tone it every month just buy some 8$ shimmer lights purple shampoo and leave it for as long as you need (I do 10 minutes) whenever you feel your hair is yellow ! that's it 💋
