We have figured out the secret on how to get Whitehaven Beach ALL TO YOURSELF! The Whitsunday Islands and Whitehaven Beach have been at the top of our bucket list for as long as we have wanted to visit Australia!
There are so many ways to see and experience the Whitsunday Islands. Instead of doing one of the popular sailing trips, we decide to camp on Whitehaven Beach for one night.
There are 11 campsites in the campground just a few short steps from the beach.
Day 1: We get dropped off at Whitehaven Beach around 10AM. After getting set up and exploring a few different trails and lookout points around our campground, we start a 16 KM return walk all the way to the opposite side of Whitehaven Beach.
We enjoy the breathtaking views of the swirly sands at Hill Inlet right at low tide before making the walk back. All of the tour boats and helicopters leave by 5PM and we have the beach to enjoy all by ourselves. It could not be more special.
The sun is setting as we make our way back to camp and we make dinner and settle in for the night.
Day 2: We could have easily camped for another couple days but sadly our time on Whitehaven Beach has to come to an end.
We enjoy the sunrise and breakfast and go for a quick swim before taking the hour boat ride back to Airlie Beach.
We booked through www.whitsundaycamping.com.au/ for the transfer to the island and all of the camping equipment. Our time on Whitehaven Beach is such a special and unique experience that exceeded all of our expectations!

Thanks so much for watching! Highly recommend the camping! The company we went through (www.whitsundaycamping.com.au) offers the same service on multiple islands. We chose Whitehaven because of the swirly sands but some of the others seemed amazing too!

So glad you found our video! We were there in mid October. I don’t remember Having any issues with mosquitoes at all... That day remains one of the biggest highlights of our entire month in Australia. If you like camping, You should also check our our videos on Fraser Island!! It was more expensive with the 4x4 rental but such a unique adventure!!

Hii !! Omg thank you for your video! This is sooo strange. everyone keep saying to me you cannot walk from the southern part to the hill inlet lookout, because there is a river in between! How did you manage to do it?

It may require some swimming :) Right at low tide the water is pretty shallow and we were able to walk all the way out to the middle. There were still some areas that would require a short swim to get across the inlet. I hope this helps!!

@@WaypointofView Hi thank you so much!! Yeah I am camping there but was also thinking of even taking a different tour to go and see the hill inlet lookout. I just don't know what to do :/. I guess I would be to afraid to swim there on my own . But still thank you!!

@@uroobaahmed5178 That might not be a bad idea :) The couple that runs the camping is awesome and they can show you the tide table and let you know if the low tide will be low enough while you are there to walk across. They also can rent you a kayak if you want to paddle it :)

Did you use scamper to get out there and if so if you hired camping gear did the boat trip out cost anything or did that just come with what you had hired????
@WaypointofView
@WaypointofView 3 жыл бұрын
Yep, we sure did! We used Scamper and rented all of the camping gear through them... both the boat trip and the gear cost $$ but definitely worth it!! It was a great experience!
@tadhg2113
@tadhg2113 3 жыл бұрын
@@WaypointofView thanks did you have to pay extra for the boat trip out or if you buy the gear does the trip out come with that (seperate purchase to the gear)
@WaypointofView
@WaypointofView 3 жыл бұрын
@@tadhg2113 Yep, we did have to pay extra/ separate for the boat trip.. so we paid for both the gear rental and the boat. You can bring your own gear if you have it, and then would only have to pay for the boat trip. :)
