I literally opened my store up last Wednesday. Made my first sale and immediately got suspended without an email communication. I put in an appeal stating I had no idea what I did wrong. I had to search for myself on what the possible issue could have been. I had to further verify my bank info to receive the deposit and all that Jazz. I put in the code and waited about 2 more days and on Sunday in the evening my shop was back up and running! Two hours later, my account was suspended again after publishing more items that don’t violate policy, I woke up Monday morning to an email stating that my account was now permanently suspended with no specific reason given. This is an absolute nightmare. Trying to get in touch with customer service is literally a joke. No one can tell me what I did wrong, but I’m suspended. Such a notable company, with lack of customer service is alarming. I appreciate your kind words of encouragement. This whole situation pushed me to build my own website. Maybe in the future I’ll try back with Etsy 🤷🏾‍♀️. Thanks Cassidy! You are awesome!

Update everyone! Earlier last week I received an email from Etsy finally responding to my pleas and stated that my shop was suspended in error and was reopened. I’m back up & running on Etsy, but will continue with my website as well. I guess it takes about a month to look into their error.

I DO wish they'd tell-all re why they suspend for not apparently reason...it would be something we could fix before it actually happens.

Did they email you why? It's interesting that they did not send me any email on the issue and just suspend it out of the blue. I only got an email from Etsy Community saying to congratulate me on becoming an Etsy Seller and a minute later I am suspended.

You must be psychic. I am a website professional and decided to open an Etsy shop for selling tech-related POD stuff to see if stuff sells before launching a website to do it. I was happily adding products via Printify and watching ALL of your videos when Boom - I was suspended. Then I searched for a video from you for this topic and didn't find anything but Boom again - here it is!! I have checked everything you listed as well as other Etsy sellers and I can't figure out what I might have done. So thank you for this! I guess I just wait now. Bummer.

I literally just appealed my shop suspension using your message template and it worked. They replied in less than an hr and reinstated my shop. They said it was there automated system that suspended my account and it was an accident. So THANK YOU 👍🏾

Another great video. Got my account suspended after being open for two weeks, submitted an appeal stating i hadn't done anything wrong. A couple of hours later i realized my VPN usage might've gotten me flagged so i sent a message to them stating that. Then i settled in for what i expected to be a two week wait. Imagine my surprise when exactly 48 hrs after my account was suspended it was unsuspended with no fanfare or message. I guess I got lucky?

Thanks Cassey. I feel encouraged. I am already at the point of giving up on Etsy. It was so hard to open the shop, and then just a week or so after it opens, they suspended my account. I don't even know what I violated because in my mind, I haven't violated anything. I checked my listings, etc...but I can't figure it out. I am waiting to hear back from them. As you suggested, will use this time to learn. God bless you!

I just had a few students get their shops back after getting "permanently banned" so there for sure is hope! A few of them had to file a few appeals and even complain to the BBB before they got their accounts back but they got them, so don't give up if this is something that you really want! And hopefully Etsy will change the systems so this stops happening to innocent shops soon

I saw another video about the horrors of being suspended... The shop was doing well, the person quit their day job to do Etsy full-time, got suspended, and then they were really in a pickle. This video has set my mind at ease somewhat. My goal is to make an income where my wife and I can both quit working full-time AND actually retire (we are both in our late 60's). I actually have had very similar fears for a long time because of stories like that but it's been three years and I'm still kicking! I think you really need to do some things wrong to get kicked off. But also an important reminder not to put all of your eggs in any one basket! That's why I have a mockup digital download store and make videos here on KZfaq, that way I have multiple incomes coming in just in case anything ever happens to any of them

It's lies dude. Once the Etsy bot bans you, you and any shop you open will be banned forever. Make money some other way. Etsy is 100% trash and you are lower than scum to them.

Hi Cassidy. Thank you for posting this video. I have opened an Etsy account for items we make with our laser. The products are completely original and are not in the banned section. The very next day I was informed by the big red banner that the account was suspended and there was a button that offered a option to file an appeal. The questions were generic stating that the name of the account, my name etc. The next day I was given an email stating the account does not qualify for reinstatement. Do you think I should just keep on trying to appeal this decision? I can be annoying like that, that's no problem! Thanks in advance.

How to file the appeal when they ask what actions we have taken to address the suspension and what how will our business practices change in the future, if we don't know what we did to get suspended?? I had a store opened for 2 weeks, got 1 sale. Then opened a second store to sell different things. Didn't list anything yet. BOTH accounts got suspended a few hours later... Never received an email explaining why. Sent an appeal for one of the stores, got an automated message right after saying I was permanently suspended... I would file an appeal for the other store, but I am afraid I will get the same automated answer again.

This isn’t really related to the topic of this video, but I am new to selling on Etsy and I have a question. I do not offer free shipping on my product, and my first customer just paid 6 dollars for shipping. When I go to print out my Etsy shipping label it costs me $3.59. Does this 3.59 come out of my profit or does it come out of the extra shipping cost that my customer paid? Basically where is the shipping money that my customer is paying going? Thanks

How do I connect my banking information to PLAID partner? As far as I know Etsy does not have a direct integration with PLAID or provide an option to connect your banking information through PLAID. Therefore, connecting your banking information to Etsy using PLAID is not a supported method. All what I did is selecting the payment method I prefer and followed the on-screen instructions to enter my banking information. That's All. I hope you answer this matter because my account was permanently suspended and I need to know if there was something related to that PLAID thing that I've missed

I checked a slogan for a t shirt design on the USA trademark checker and a company has it as a trademarked name. Does the fact that my slogan is part of a design with illustrations and the company trademark is just a text name make any difference or can I still be liable to infringement? My design isn’t published, just in draft. I read the company trademark descriptor and it is just block text. Hello, we had set up a private internet connection for my friend's store. However, his store got suspended. The internet connection (modem) we had was dynamic IP, which means its IP address changes every time it's turned off and on. I want to open my own store. You didn't do anything wrong, it's just that an Etsy employee had a bad day or something. I'm going through exactly the same thing - a permanent ban without any given reason, and knowing that I didn't do anything that violates their policies. Very frustrating.

you can use onesie as long as its a gerber made onesie.. its if you use it with one that isnt gerber, but you can totally get ACTUAL GERBER onesies, put your design on them and sell them as onesies... since that is exactly what they are.

I've had an Etsy account since 2016 and have only BOUGHT items. (3 times) I have NEVER had a shop to sell items. The last item I bought was in March 2023, and in August 2023 my account was suspended. I appealed and received a response in 24 hrs stating that I don't qualify to have my account reinstated due to "intellectual property policy". I have no idea why

I just opened my POD shop and I had it on vacation mode cause I needed to make changes which I only had two things on there well I took it off vacation mode today and I deleted the two items and I added another item from printify and I made a mistake so I was trying to correct it and boom my shop is suspended! And I know I did nothing wrong cause I already checked for trademark! I hate that you can’t talk to a live person that you have to depend on an email and they won’t get to you until days later I’m alread frustrated wanted to give up😢 And they said I was going to get an email about it and I never did! All my information is correct so I don’t know why I got suspended maybe I was doing something and printify was doing something at the same time

I set up a store and it literally got shut down with no email and no recourse. It’s certainly eye opening and now as a consumer, I won’t even be using Etsy anymore . It’s horrendous

I opened my shop feb 19 2024. Created 1 listing. Went back next day to find to add another listing and found my shop suspended. I filed appeal pretty much saying what you said to write. Etsy responded within the hour saying I don’t qualify for reinstatement and refused to tell me why. I’m still very upset.

Hello! Please advise, I created a new account, my identity was verified, and I was asked to provide business registration documents, which I promptly submitted. However, my account was blocked the next morning. In the tax information section, it states that the verification is in progress. Thank you so much for this video Cassiy. Unfortunately this happened to me today. Only one week after i opened my store. And it happened the day i started posting items to sale. Filed an appeal and got a response. They didn't' say why or the reason i was being suspended. Furthermore, they said that after careful analysis of my store they would NOT revert the decision. I simply can't understand why.

I got the same answer as you. My store was banned in December. I was selling on Etsy since october. After two weeks, when someone from Etsy reviews your appeal, they will immediately close it with no response. And either your store will be unbanned or you will receive a perm ban. You will most likely be unbanned because when I set up my first store, I had the same situation and I was unbanned. But now they banned me again. So much time and money wasted on Etsy...

I have had my account for at least a year and just got suspended this weekend. I try to do everything by the book when listing. Then finally went through and saw what the problem was. Somehow I was overdue on a payment I didn't even know existed. Looks like now that I paid it, I'm good now. I heard about them charging certain shops to open them up and I'm guessing this is what this was but why me when I've had the shop open for a long time. Maybe it is something else but I know this is what I heard about just a few days ago

This is me right now. I had my shop up in 2020-2021 & made 68 sales, but went into vacation mode. Opened it up in May and created 100+ shirts/listings, got one sale, the customer stated that Monsters Digital sent the wrong item and before I could even reply Etsy refunded them(they said they preferred a replacement) and then I was suspended, there was literally 2 minutes between the email from the customer and Etsy refunding them. When I logged in as soon as I got the 2nd email it said i was suspended. No email about the suspension. I've contacted them and submitted the things they requested but I am still suspended 6 days later.

I received a permanent suspension on Etsy about 2 years ago. I had posted a digital collage for sale. I was always under the impression that a collage fell under "fair use" (think the digital version of creating an image with magazine clippings). After getting the suspension notice (which gave no reason), I sent an email requesting an explanation... I never received anything. Here it is 2 years later and I thought I'd try to get to the bottom of it. Etsy says I had 6 mo. to appeal, but because I didn't, I have no recourse... insane!

Hi Cassiy, I tried the Help Center but it said that "the account doesn't have an issue eligible for appeal" so I tried sending an email as you suggested. I got an email back right away stating that the inbox is not a "monitored" inbox. I'm wondering if you think that means no one will read the email or that It just might take longer to get a response? I've checked all my email folders and I don't have an email nor do I have any idea why they suspended the account. I had it set on pause for awhile so I'm thinking maybe that's why but now I can't even purchase anything on Etsy, even with my personal etsy account so I'm stumped. Any help is much appreciated.

Cassiy, what if I had multiple bestselling designs on etsy stolen, put up on a number of freestanding websites, then those sellers come in and file an etsy infringement against me (even though it's my design they copied)? Have you had this happen and what to do if it does?

I've never had this happen to myself but if someone files a copyright infringement against you, you can just fight it and then they have 10 days to get a lawyer and prove that they already had a copyright filled for that design.. Sorry if this happened to you!

Hi Cassidy, I opened an Etsy page and posted one listing. I got immediately suspended but I have only used my own content and photos of a handmade scarf that I made. I also put all my information in correctly, so I am not sure why this happened. I submitted an appeal and got an immediate email response that said my account was permenately suspended, but I can still log into my account and it still says that they are reviewing my appeal. I am not sure if I should send the email or just wait, what should I do?

Hi! I hope you can help me. I'm trying to set up etsy shop and I do not have credit card because I hate debts. I only buy what I can using the money that I have. Can I use my bank debit card instead for the billing information? I've watched a couple of youtube vids that they are able to use credit or debit card for the billing information in setting up acct. but right now when I am filling information in that section, there is only the mention of Credit Card. Can I assume that I can use Debit card for that??? Thank you!

I have a very genuine question for you, Cassiy-Do you ever feel concerned about waking up one day and seeing your Etsy shop suspended for good and Etsy not re-instating it? I have heard of many horror stories like these. In this case then, what is the best way to create a general niche Shopify store selling POD tees and sweatshirts considering the fact that only niche POD stores do well on Shopify unlike general niche stores that do GREAT on Etsy but don’t do well on Shopify. How do we diversify our income in such cases then considering the fact that ANY social media strategy works out great ONLY with a niche POD store as you get loyal customers only that way who would stick with your brand. Please correct me if I am wrong as I am yet to see a general niche POD store on Shopify doing great selling tees and sweatshirts unlike Etsy. I would greatly appreciate your response,thanks!

You described me. It happened to me yesterday, i am still shocked and i feel like my health is in danger. I was doing all my best, i love my shop. I am making aaaaaal the items by myself. A very big work and love was there and i was shocked when i see my shop is suspended. They didn't warn me before or they didn't send me any message about the reason. I would NEVER trust etsy. The continue to just randomly suspend accounts some permanently without explanation. Their seller customer service is nonexistent. They hold all the power and know it. Their recent announcement that they are reducing the "reserve" amount was only because they were going to be investigated. I personally believe there are some securities laws being broken. Unfortunately they are one of the most popular places to sell and BUY here in the US so we don't have alot options.

Hi Cassiy. I hope you can see my comment and give me advice because I haven't found an answer anywhere. I opened my second Etsy shop two days ago, and paid 15 USD fee that Etsy started charging when you open an Etsy shop (I think it started this month) and I realised it was suspended yesterday, so l appealed it and within 24 hours they sent me a message that they reviewed my case and I won't be able to get it back without further explanation 🙁. Is it possible to get a refund of this fee knowing that I got this shop suspended without being able to upload any listing or even set up my shop? Can I create another account and try to open the shop again or it may even affect my first shop? Thanks! I would appreciate your help.

Like I go over in this video, that’s pretty normal to have it suspended right after opening, it’s probably just their system putting you as a bot on accident! Just try to appeal it and you should have it back in no time!

Well... as a totally newbie, I made the newbie mistake setting my store in US, but Im actually in Europe (what I correctly set in my billing and personal details). My account got suspended and the appeal was closed with permanent ban, stating that no further details and communication will be possible. The question: they already have my personal and bank account information. If I open a new shop, carefully following the advices and guides not to violate anything, will I still get banned because they recofnise its me again?

My shop was suspended July 5. I was sent an email saying it was suspended permanently. I submitted an appeal because I don't even know what I violated in their terms of service. I was surprised at how fast they answered me, I got an email 12 hours later saying they were "sorry" but that it's permanently suspended for violating terms of use (still nothing specific). They said if I thought this was an error to reply to that email. Now I play the waiting game. I've gone through my listings (still have access to) & removed anything that could've been misconstrued as violating their terms (though I'm still not sure what I did). In my first 45 days or so as a shop, I had 7 sales and a few 5 star reviews. The waiting is killing me because all the videos I'm watching say it could be days or weeks, OR MONTHS until I hear back. What other POD Shops do you suggest/promote for beginners?

I just created a store, got banned, didn't get told why, I appealed and got permanently banned, still don't know why. Which led me here. I'm sure I didn't violate anything. I tried what you said and used the email address and got a reply saying the inbox wasn't monitored. Ie. They won't read it and do anything because they won't see it. Where on earth can I go from here? They said any other accounts associated with me would be suspended too and I'd never be able to even buy from Etsy again. I've had a personal account for buying for 10 years, and another store for a year. Are they both going to get suspended too? No idea who I can even ask about this seeing as they don't monitor their own support email address!

Yea definitely a scam! Etsy made a new update that any message from them will be in the “From Etsy” section of your inbox! I opened my shop June 2nd, & got permanently suspended June 8th. I did not break any policies. I have been waiting for an actual email explaining what I violated, but they still have not messaged me. It's just been an automated message from them. I use to buy all my designs on etsy, & now I can't do that either. So I'm at a loss on what I can do to run my tshirt business. I can't purchase designs anymore so I'm kind of stuck. Thank you for this video though.

Etsy is not able to make enough grading about the shop closure team. By saying that the products I produce are not handmade, they first deactivated my products and then closed my shop. Although I presented evidence, they do not evaluate.

Hey Cassiy, we are in S.A. (South Africa). Would the US and other popular countries who know about Etsy buy from us? We only plan to sell printables, digital products, and POD (of which Printify is a US company as far as I know). Also, I chatted with Nataly from Everbee, and she said you can use a trademarked word like Rabbit or Onesie, but not on its own. It needs to be used in a keyword phrase. Do you agree? If I sell a shirt with a rabbit on it, surely it should be allowed, else the person who had it trademarked would have the sole monopoly on anything and everything related to rabbits or containing a rabbit image or keyword. That would be totally unfair, and it makes no sense that anyone could have so much power over something that is so generic and universal.

I was suspended for no reason. I wasn't given an explanation, nor was I given an opportunity to fix any problems. The thing is, I knit and crochet and all of my designs are my own. I filed an appeal and it was denied in less than 2 hours. I can't recover it. I was with them since 2012. I was actively selling until about the beginning of 2018, and then took a hiatus. I recently reopened my shop and after about 30 items, they decimated my shop.

Hello! i'm a regular buyer, i was trying to purchase something for my wedding but it didn't go through and when i tried again i got a red notice that my account got suspended. The thing is that i didn't get any email explaining why or how to restore it! When i start searching it only appears that shops accounts and sellers account normally get suspended, and any help that etsy provide on the page is for those accounts, but im just a regular account, never sold anything or have any listings. The email that you provided didn't work so i have no one who can help me. i tried for the appeal but i'm not even eligible for that.. hello...this happened to my US based POD shop as well, and I cannot get any answers anywhere from anyone, sadly. I wanted to respond to you to let you know you're not alone. I have filed two appeals and now a third with no way of knowing what the "violation" was. I've read, reread, had my attorney husband read Etsy's policies and rules and there are no answers from Etsy, just no reinstatement messages, yet they keep my shop on temporary suspension. I followed Cassiy's instructions to a T, and it makes me so sad. I will keep respectfully trying, as should you. Good Luck.
