💙A little bit about me 💉
I am a surgical nurse by background and work as a Junior Sister in Acute and Chronic pain services. I was redeployed to Intensive Care Unit following the initial Covid-19 outbreak in March 2020. I worked there for 3 months as a Nurse with zero critical care nursing background, but was determined to adapt and provide care for my patients.
On the first shift of the New Year (2021), I was immediately redeployed back to the same Covid Intensive Care Unit and I am currently caring for Covid patients in an ICU setting.

I enjoying your video, you show great compassion for your role as a nurse & how it should be applied. I am a retired Senior Sister, unfortunately I suffer from numerous illnesses to which my Carers end up sending me to hospital (I hasten to add when this happens Paramedics find me unresponsive & end up in ICU. I have found in the last 3 years of admissions biting my teeth at the approach & lack of professionalism in my local hospital. Formal complaints have been made and vindicated. Junior staff are at a loss as to whom to ask for explanation and/or indeed physical onsite training in some situations. They are reliant on NCAs who have worked for many years attaining their NVQ3 but unable to progress due to personal reasons. I know of many a nurse who think appraisals of methodology of 'basic" roles should be carried out on ALL levels to which financial awards can be granted for proven progress in their work. I nursed for 36years, starting at 19 yrs old. I was medically retired at 55yrs old, NO Union helped me fight my corner. Can you find a way to have your videos be shown in hospital training days. This would make life so much easier for all and earn greater respect.

Hi im a first year and this video was great as I have a formative exam during placement tomorrow and this is a great refresher! I think just mentioning about safety checks and any relevant care plans must also be noted when giving handover too, but I'm sure your new vids mention this ☺

Nice info! Handoff/handover report is soooo important, and helps keep the patient safe. @@nursezara Thank you so much for YOUR support...In actuality, that what nurses should do...I don't mean specifically here on KZfaq (although that would be a very nice support network, etc.---CAN YOU IMAGINE!!!), but in the clinical setting...Can you imagine if new nurses were welcomed and nurtured, and the cycle would continue, and newbies supported the "oldies" (for lack of a better word). People would flock to be nurses, not just for helping patients, the $$$, but for the love of nursing... It would be like the MARINES (an American armed services branch, that are like once a Marine, always a Marine, they don't care about who what where when how, etc...You are a Marine...and they break their back to help each other). That's my idea of a Nursing Utopia!!! BTW, ,I saw your video about why you became a nurse (in regards to the nurse who took you aside when your sister was in the hospital). That was inspiring, and stories like that need to be shared!!! Keep in touch!!!!!!!!!!!!
