I think Shreko shreko likes u For me it was about the speed that I was going when I got to the ball. I take 4 steps back and 3 to the left. This gives me plenty of time to speed up before I connect with the ball. You also want to remember to punch through the ball, not stop when you hit it. When I kick the ball, my back foot leaves the ground for a split second and when I hit the ground, my momentum carries me forward slightly. If you need any clarification lmk and if you want, I can’t email/text you a vid of me kicking so you can see what I mean.

I would start with kicking into a net. Focus on good ball strikes and what that feels like. Then progress to kicking at goal. Focus on ball flight and strikes over distance. Pete

By far the best kicking tutorial out there (and love my rugby bricks kicking tee!). Would love some help though… As I have ‘pigeon feet’ (my feet naturally angle inwards a lot when I walk or run) I struggle a lot with the ball hooking from right to left and find it hard to get power straight through the strike. Any advice for helping flatten my foot or point my toe outwards on the strike (like in 13:24 of the video) rather than have it hook inwards? I feel like I can’t ever get a ‘clean’ strike even when I do land a good kick and when I focus hard to fix this natural inclination the ball slices away every time. I’ve struggled with this for years.

Amazing video. Only one question: how do you calculate wind? What do you aim when there is wind?
@rugbybricks
@rugbybricks 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Tommy, great question. Once you understand your natural ball flight then you can start making a plan for the wind. Big thing is to find the line you want to start the ball on and commit to that 100% this is a great example of committing to the line 100% kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y5ibprGBp7Grfo0.html

Hey Robin, Great question. My top tip would not to become obsessed with kicking off a tee. Use grubbers, drop kicks, punt kicks, chip kicks, left foot, right foot etc to keep building the skill. Just Tee kicking drives everyone insane at some point ha! Pete

Hey David, Taller Tee means you need to keep a taller body and hips on approach and through contact. Reece Hodge is a great example of staying tall and strong through the kick. Here is a video of Reece talking through his technique: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mpNios-ls9C6aWw.html

Hi I am a 9 year old wanna be kicker's mom, no clue what to do...Just one question, the degrees at which you approach the ball from, can it differ from behind the post to the side line, example behind the post approach at 85 degrees, and at the 10m side line at a 45 degrees?
@rugbybricks
@rugbybricks 2 ай бұрын
Hey! Great question and awesome work being a kicking Mom! I would be leaning more towards having the same approach angle each time for consistency. Pillar 4 - Approach Lane is the best part of this video, simple is good while you are young! Pete
