Watch this video before growing beefsteak tomatoes!!!
In this video, I teach you how to grow huge, juicy beefsteak tomatoes in your garden. I'll walk you through the essentials including watering, fertilizing, light requirements, and spacing. Although I don't claim to be an expert, I've had quite a bit of success with my tomatoes in my front yard garden and I want to share my experience with other growers out there wanting to master the art and science of tomato growing. I made this video for both beginner and advanced growers, so no matter what your skill level, I hope you find it useful.

I bought an easy grow beefsteak tomato kit and they say to plant all the seeds into the tiny pot and let it all grow in the small pot. I figured that didn't sound right so I separated each seedling into their own planters now I've got a bunch of 5 foot plants and no room on my apartment balcony. O.O I've been putting banana peels and egg shells in my soil. Banana peels work really good.

Yeah, those kits and gimmicky garden products can be misleading. You made the right move. Balcony growing is tricky I think but sounds like your having some success which is awesome! I'll have to try banana peels, thinking they'll have good potassium in them.

This year I sold all but 2 of my beefsteak plants! One suggestion for you. Keep the magnesium level up, to keep the calcium working in the plants. I add epsom salt to my plants every time I water them. Try about 1 tablespoon per gallon of water. Good luck to you! 👍

A good organic soil is best, however; there's nothing wrong with the occasional boost of a water soluble supplement if necessary. This is contrary to most commercial hot houses which pump their tomatoes with a synthetic fertilizer that can actually be tasted in the fruit. There's nothing like fresh garden grown tomatoes! 🍅

All plants and animals that have been domesticated are technically GMO if we're counting selective breeding. We've been doing this since the dawn of argicultur, for thousands of years, so by that definition non GMO food is pretty much only the stuff you find in a forest and not even all of that. GMO is one if those fad words that have no meaning anymore, like organic and chemical. All living things are organic no matter how they're grown, and everything that exists that's not a wave is chemical. Originally these words where attached to concepts with meaning, but they've been twisted for advertising purposes.
@Aziz-wl1xf
@Aziz-wl1xf Жыл бұрын
@@daniel4647 There is a huge difference between selective breeding and GMO. With selective breeding, you are making the genes already present in the population more prominent/prevalent. Those genes naturally evolved through passage of time. With GMO on the other hand, you are granularly modifying or adding genes as a human, with unknown consequences to the organism as a whole. Genes and their interactions are incredibly complex and as humans we are nowhere near able to predict or guarantee all side effects of any given modification.

Make sure you have a large pot or a large grow bag look on Amazon the grow bags do really well if you buy a cage it'll fit in that. I would at least do 10-15 gallon and put a water tray underneath and fertilize as needed.

The secret to giant tomatoes is to sucker the plants. I'd rather have 25 softball sized fruits than 100 golf ball sized fruits. And don't be afraid to cut off several flowers and use them to pollinate your other plants flowers. They need air space to grow giant fruits

@matthewkheyfets1309
@matthewkheyfets1309 Жыл бұрын
@@lucasgrowsbestyt yeah there isn't really a need to prune tomato plants. The only reason to prune is either preference or you have limited space but want to try varieties. However, generally speaking if you provide all the nutrients, enough sun, and water the plants daily, you should be fine. I believe that if a Tomato plant puts out 100 flowers in a span of 2 weeks, then that means the plant has the genetic potential for at least 70-90 flowers to pollinate and produce fruit. If they don't, then that means the environment got too cold or too hot OR there is something we ask Gardners didn't provide in terms of water, nutrients, or sun light to get them all to pollinate and then fruit set. I don't think a plant really goes to make 100 flowers only to set like 15 of them versus flowering 100 of them and setting as many as it can.
