I have mixed a little pine bark into my ericaceous soil and peat moss mix for 30+ years, the pants love it! pine bark is a bit acidic and when mixed with the soil/peat it makes a nice airy soil, my plants are massive.

I had a question. I'm going to mix the pine bark nuggets and a bag of potting soil and sphagnum peat moss,one plant loos like leaves are growing but the other variety just has the stick. I'm going to plant them in a 20 gallon container. You think that's good steps?? For success and water once a week about?

@@thebestofthebestsir47 yes that sounds good, you only need to add a small bit of pine bark into the mix, maybe 15% of the total mix at most, but when the plant is in the container just put a little extra on top of the soil too, and water with rainwater unless you have no other choice, rainwater is acidic and much better to use than tap water.

I read that pine needles are acidic when green, but when they turn brown, most of the acidity is lost. I agree that they make a good mulch, but not because it helps keep the soil acidic.

i was recommended to put pine needles on top to help with the acidic level . think i need a test kit would hate to mess up planting them .

This video was shot in the 1990s with a 4 mega pixel low resolution camera. Blueberries grow everywere were i live, the soil here i slightly acidic but has a good amount of npk and minerals, biology, worms. We have a mainly clay rock soil here in NL Canada.

I live at Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma and our tap water has a lot of chorine in it. No, I don't drink it. How is it going to affect my blackberries, blueberries and elderberries if I water them with the tap water.

Just leave water out in the sunshine for 2 or 3 days and the chlorine will be gone or collect rain water as much as possible. Rain water works great. 😂😂😂😂

If you live in none Southern states and up north, how to go about planting blueberries also, can you use blueberries that have shriveled in refrigerator and plant them?

Well it is outside and it’s windy which doesn’t help the quality either. I wasn’t really bothered by it, just took too long to get to the info. The intro was too long.

I have a few blueberries in my garden. my issue is soil. when you grow in containers ii use the same mix as when grown in the soil, which is 50 -% peat moss and 50% compost. can I use the media you listed for growing in soil?

Hi Tim! 👋 I am been trying to figure it out where to buy the pine bark compost but no luck. U said in the video that is cheap but I live in san antonio and the nurseries don't have none of that. Just wonder where u get ur pine bark compost. Thanks for the video it was very helpful cause I have 10 blueberries in containers 3 years old.

just go into the woods and collect some and make your own . I'm lucky I have pine trees on my land .

Yes they can take some wind but do better with lower wind levels.
