If you’re going to grow this, make sure you have a place to hide it. Otherwise if your cat becomes obsessed with it, he’ll knock it over all over the floor and eat the whole thing and then throw it up all over the floor not that I know from experience. 😂😂😂

Okay I think it's important to mention what the main use of cat grass is. Its used by cats to help them remove hairballs too. And it's common for them to eat it and throw it back up with a few hairy friends.

Any grain will do.. usually these are barley. And dogs can eat it too 😊

I grew cat grass for a research paper I was writing. It's pretty great. It's actually just wheat, which is also a type of grass :)

My cats love it, but tend to pull the plant up with the roots when eating it. I solved that by putting a stiff fine plastic net with good sized holes over the top, and then adding some more soil on that. The roots will be deeper and the net will keep them down.

Wheat berries are a cheaper alternative to cat grass (basically the same thing) as you can get a much bigger bag for continuous growing.

Rye, oat or wheat grass works well too. Rotate small containers in sunny spots for constant indoor mowing meowskis.

Tip: get red wheat berries from a store that has bulk bins. They are the same as the seeds labeled as cat grass.

My kittens were eating my cymbidium orchid leaves so I grew them some cat grass and they've never touched any of my house plants since.

I bought already potted mature grass for my cat and got flies all over my house from the soil. I don't know what kind of soil but it may have had icky fertilizer in it, I never found out. So, yes, assemble your own soil, planter, and seed.

They will have this destroyed in no time and then it's back to the house plants. That's the problem with ideas like this. Alternately, getting an established mint plant will attract them without getting them high because it's in the same family without the alkaloids. Mint bushes renew and grow back quite quickly if you invest in a mature bark-ey potted bush rather than a plant. Using the method shown here, you'll spend 98% of the time growing and 2% of the time with the plant existing before it's consumed literally to death. You're setting yourself up for frustration because the only other way the process will be worth the effort is if they snub it and now you appreciate the fact that you are now the proud owner of house grass as an addition to your other surviving house plants.

I feel like not many people know this but cat grass is actually just wheat grass or other types of grain. Save yourself some money and just buy that instead! You can get massive bags of seeds for like $20 instead of buying the little cat packets

This is okay if you don’t have any other plants, but if you do, do not grow cat grass for your cat to eat. It will teach them it’s okay to eat all of your plants

Na this would just teach her it’s ok to eat my plants. She learned not to, teaching cats not to eat your plants is better than allowing them to.

I do not, he does not show any interest in my hundreds of plants whatsoever, so hell no, I definitely won't be growing any cat grass, encouraging him to start showing interest in potted plants 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
