I'll share my tried and true process as well as some tips and information for growing big beautiful garlic bulbs in a wide variety of climates!

This isn’t one of your recent videos but it’s certainly new to me. I do my growing in the county of Shropshire in England, so we’re in different climate zones and it’s difficult to directly compare growing methodologies etc. However, even though I’m a longtime grower of garlic, and that thought I’d probably heard it all, I felt that I learnt a lot from listening to you. You have nice delivery and your good advice was gratefully received here in Shropshire. Thank you👍

Living in Washington state, I get a lot of rain and have to battle with slugs, so I use mostly containers in my greenhouse. Now, I have deer passing through my hoop greenhouse as if it's a buffet for them... streamers don't scare them off. @@urbanfarmstead I tried redwood much which looked good but seemed to have sucked all N out of plants, and then I tried woodchips which kept getting into the soil and also seemed to affect the N. Thank you.

@@lutvijahrnjic9670 yes, woodchips can sequester the nitrogen as they break down so you’ll want to add extra nitrogen

I have to cover my garlic with a chicken wire box bc of the critters (racoons, squirrels…) they like to dig the cloves up out of the ground all year 😒 thanks for the tips!

@@urbanfarmstead I have trouble with foxes digging my leeks looking for worms. Lost 4 leeks out of 12 last year. Don't have the sort of critters you get there! Greetings from England UK

We've been eating wild garlic that grows along our creek for years. Dumb question...Are the blooms what you referred to as scapes? I'm new to this concept.

We live in zone 8-9 Georgia coast. My garlic was planted November 1st. Now May and one of the hardnecks has multiple leaves coming out of the middle. Are these scapes? Do I cut them or leave alone. It is Shandung China garlic.

You made it that growing garlic is a rocket science. People, all you need is the garlic bulbs, put the cloves into the dirt (no matter what kind of dirt), water it once a week until the first frost and then just forget about it until spring.
