Thanks very much, there is a lot of good info in this video. Lettuce is my favorite vegetable to grow. I’m still trying out various varieties to see which performs well and has good flavor. Buttercrunch seems to be the winner this season and it’s widely available to boot. Last year May Queen and Grand Rapids were good. I tried misting this spring, at least twice a day if I can remember it. It certainly seems to help. Shade cloth to protect from the afternoon sun also seems to help. PS don’t ask me how many varieties of lettuce seed packs I have bought over the years 😂 because I honestly can’t tell you. Too many to remember.

Haha too many to remember is right! I even resorted to trying those lettuce variety packs. I have to say I just can't believe our lettuce hasn't bolted yet this year, even with some days in the 90s. I really, really like the combo of slo-bolt and Marvel of Four Seasons =)

Def going to give that cabbage a try if i can get hold of some seeds for the fall. I'm trying mustard, collards and kale for the first time this year and haven't had great success so far😂

For mustards, definitely try some asian varieties like Mizuna! So much easier (and I think better, but that's subjective). I'll try to make a video on collards and kale with a few tips too!

Thanks for this. I do struggle with lettuce. Ironically, I have the same ttpe and started indoors this time around (zone 9), and it's doing much better.

I love the mustard greens as salad and they do really well too whereas regular lettuces don't. I think the regular lettuce knows I'm not a big fan of it 🤭

Strictly speaking.... I probably prefer growing mustard greens too (especially Asian varieties) but lettuce has grown on me 😁

Thank you for all the info but in particular for the Tokyo Besana Cabbage since I don’t grow cabbage. Japanese varietals in general are great. Have several of them in my garden: komatzuna, mizuna, kamo eggplant…

@Nextdoor Homestead yes. Last year I just broadcast the seed through my small garden and it grew like crazy. This year, I'll try something different. I love watching your content. Its got a ton of very useful info and ideas. ❤️
