I've been growing it for years, maybe 10 years. I eat fresh leaves I prefer the seeds immature and cooked. I dry the leaves too for soups and also powder them. I put the dried leaves in my pasta sauce as a heavy garnish. And I use the leaves to make tea (I tend to eat the soaked leaves as I drink the tea)

Another plant you can grow for tooth/gum pain is called the "toothache plant", Sczchuan buttons, buzz buttons etc. They are small and produce a single "flower" on top that looks nothing like a flower. The flower is the part that works for pain, just bite down on it and in a couple minutes the pain is gone.

Wow!! Thanks for sharing. I have an expensive oil for 20$ i use for skin but sometimes if I feeling lucky I’ll put a squirt in my mouth and it’s delicious. Will try the seeds!! I just planted my own seeds and excited is an understatement!!! By the way, this plant can grow as thick as 1 foot (the main trunk), so better transplant it to the ground and give it a 3-5 feet space from other plants if you’re planning to grow it out to a tree. Happy that you can grow it in florida, i’ll try my luck here in texas.

We just went down to Florida and bought a Moringa plant 15 inches tall from a Nursery. The last one they had. They can’t keep them, very popular.

@fancythat5136 My husband and I winter in Florida and I brought back a morninga tree with us. I'm keeping it in a five gallon bucket so I can transport it back and forth from Michigan to Florida every winter until it's too big then ill plant it in Florida and start a new one.❤️

I did that same thing, bringing it into the kitchen by the window in the winter BUT I'd given one of my babies to a friend and her's never died - she brought it into the garage - so I did that this year on the first frost, put a plastic bag over the leaves on the really cold nights, and a blanket around the bottom of the pot - only watered it on warm days in the middle of the day - she's done great! Need to know when to prune it and put it back outside.

Great for cuts. When we were young when we have cuts and scrapes we would mash it until we get the juice from it and rub it into out cuts. We also use it as our vegetables-we cook it with our traditional soups.

Cool, I would love to try a moringa shake! Jacksonville is nice for year round growing. A few years we may get a hard freeze but mostly mild winters. Summer heat can be challenging.

The younger drumsticks are more tender once cooked but the larger ones are rather tough so once they've cooked the seeds can be sucked out of them and eaten and are very tasty.

@@douglascunningham6319 you never really know how much a med is working til you stop taking. I ran out and couldnt find it local. Oh man, i paid for it for sure. They put me on script meloxicam. It raised my blood pressure and inflammation but my pain level was down. Im not willing to take this med forever. Ordering more of the Moringa and watching blood pressure.

It would need to be brought inside once frost is in the forecast, as it will die off in freezing Temps. David the Good's Survival Gardener KZfaq channel has some good ideas for pruning & overwintering.

I can grow small plants but not too large. It does not do well as it matures.

I'm in north central FL but my moringa is thin and not leafy as it should be. I transplanted it to the ground. Idk why is not really giving leaves. It's been months tho. 😪

Nothing much. When I change my hydroponics out, I dump my old nutrients into the bed. Unfortunately, we had one hard freeze this year and took out most of my trees, I only have two left. Got to plant more myself.

@@KeepOnGrowin I live in TX, I plant mine outside and been in the ground for over 10 yrs started with 8 plants now all alive and grown more trees from cuttings. Every winter I covered it with lots of leaves, prune it halfway and no fertilizer needed. Moringa "Malunggay" in my language, it has deep taproot so its better planted in deep containers and width doesn't matter just deep ones if planning to put it inside during winter. By the way my Moringa I thought died when TX was hit of that 1 week Icestorm, but it sprouted back with very big leaves and very bushy. As long as you insulate the roots it will come back to life as I experienced and observed it too. Also whenever any insects like wasps and bees stung me, actually many times ouchy...I use the leaves, pound it and extract the juice on the affected area, nobody believes me until I shows the little holes. Anyway I grow up with it and my grandmother was/is my source, she's very knowledgeable, she uses it for everything not just food for human and animal consumption but as healing medicine. Hope this little info will help someone.

I constantly harvest for my smoothies and salads. You can trim them back when it is cold and the leaves start to yellow.

Did you get them from a seed company or the grocery store? Sometimes the ones at the grocery store won't germinate. Also, up in GA you will probably need to grow in a pot, the Winter will probably kill any plants you grow.
