Hello, this is Algae.
Have you ever tasted mulberry?
When I eat mulberry, I remember my childhood memories when my fingers and mouth were dyed purple with mulberry.
In the past, mulberry was relatively common in markets, but it seems to be rare these days, even in small rural markets.
Personally, I am very saddened by the fact that the popularity of these sweet and sour berries is declining day by day.
Although the popularity of mulberry is waning, fortunately, the fact that mulberry is still a major biological resource does not seem to change.
Today, I tried to grow a mulberry seedling using the attractive fruit mulberry.
I hope this video will give you pleasure.
Have a nice day :)
Thank you.

fun fact. mulberries dont need a temperate climate to thrive. i live 18 degrees from the equator. and i have a thriving mulberry tree. it's currently full of fruit that isnt yet ripe. every day i go and harvest about a cup of them. it has some about to ripen, some that are midway through, and some that are barely just forming. i find that more desirable than having them all ripen at once. this way i can have fresh mulberries every day. and i leave some for the birds too......they also need to eat. the first few harvests were quite poor, and the birds ate most before i could harvest them. but now this is the first real harvest and it's awesome.....i think i'll get some seeds and start growing more trees. fruit trees are a good gift. it's free food for life.

Hello this is Algae. Thank you for sharing your experience :) Thanks to you, I learned that low-temperature conditions are not at all involved in the life cycle of mulberry trees. Thank you. Not only is it fun to eat mulberries, but it is also fun to observe the animals that visit mulberry trees. I'm glad you communicated with me. Have a good day :)

Hello, this is Algae. Thank you for leaving a nice question :) I grew mulberries in the sun. If there is insufficient light in the place where you will grow mulberries, I recommend using an artificial light source (e.g. LED). Mulberry can also be grown in countries with four distinct seasons. However, it is possible to withstand winter after some growth. If your country doesn't have fall and winter, you won't have any problems growing mulberries. I hope your question has been resolved. Have a good day :)

Hello, this is Algae. Thank you for leaving a nice question :) In Korea, 'culture-soil' made by mixing materials such as coco-peat, perlite, and zeolite is produced and sold by factory. I also mainly use the soil produced in the factory. Mulberry is a plant that requires strong light. You will need a sunny location or the help of LED lights to grow your mulberry in its best condition. I hope your question has been resolved. Have a good day :)

Although I am not the person that posted this video, I will answer to the best of my ability. My knowledge is that it depends if the mulberry is male or female. To know that you have to wait and see if the tree fruits or not. I have been told it takes about 4 years although it may be shorter in my experience. I had a small tree (more like a sapling about year or 2 old)up against my house and had not realized at that time it was a mulberry. Since it was up against the house I cut it down to about a 6 in stump last year. When spring hit I noticed the leaves resembled mulberry leaves that we had when I was young so I let it be this year. And let's just say cutting it down did not affect its vigor, as it is about 12ft tall with the large leafs being about 10 inches long. I assumed that it would not fruit this year if it was female, but again I was wrong and it is fruiting nicely, although not ripe yet since it gets shaded most of the day. On the opposite side of the house there is another that it is in a very inconvenient location growing into a gate that leads to a field (with nothing in it but a little grass weeds & (the bane of my existence) Russian olive trees. But being in an inconvenient location I also cut it as much as I could, but again it came back with a vengeance and I let it be, and that one has had fruit that started to be ripe about 2 weeks ago (begining-middle of June) And it has produced a copious amount of fruit that has been enjoyed by birds, chickens, my feeder insects, my 5 year old (she's stripped every branch that she can reach of ripe fruit daily) and of course myself. I imagine we have about another week for that one to finish fruiting, and by that time the one up against the house should be in full fruit production.

I would really like to see a video where you replant them! I am just planting one mulberry seedling myself as well (it's about 50cm tall now) and i am honestly quite worried i would damage it by replanting it. Just starting, planting a seedling for the first time! ^^ Thanks alot for the video btw. Your seedlings are super cute!

Hello this is Algae. Glad to hear that your mulberry tree is doing well :) Mulberry is a hardy plant. If you carefully plant your saplings in a sunny spot in the spring, they will grow well without big problems. However, when transplanting outdoors, please do not let the soil dry out until the roots adapt well to the new soil. Unfortunately, I am living abroad for a while away from Korea for academic research. I left the country after transplanting the mulberry trees to the outdoor garden, but I cannot directly confirm the current situation. Have a good day :)

Hello, this is Algae. Thank you for leaving a nice question :) Given the appearance of the mulberry tree you described, it is likely that your mulberry tree is being grown under conditions of insufficient light. Are you growing mulberry trees inside the building? Or are you growing it in the shade out of direct sunlight? If you are growing mulberry trees in a low light environment, please move the pot to a sunny location or use an artificial light source (e.g. LED light). Provide enough light, your mulberry tree will start to grow healthy and beautiful. Have a good day :)

I'm not sure, but I think a trident shape would have revealed itself early on. Since there is so much variety in the genetic mix, considering being pollinated by other "regularly" shaped leaved trees, it's probably seldom. If you had a grouping of only trident shaped leaved trees, seeds from such trees would be much more likely to have trident leaved offspring. 😊

Hello This is Algae. Thank you for sharing your valuable know-how :) As you said, there are many different species called mulberries and these include many varieties. Some cultivars have trident leaves that reveal their own identity. However, I wonder if there are any species or varieties that have different leaves in the early stages of growth and in the mature stage. For example, in the case of papaya, the leaves (not the cotyledon) that are freshly sprouted in the early stages and the leaves that are mature are different. I am curious whether there exists a mulberry tree to which this applies, and what causes it. For reference, the leaves of the tree which I harvested the fruit had a trident shape. Have a good day :)
