Me too I cook a lot of Chinese dishes, such as Korean popcorn, chicken general tsos chicken, orange, chicken, sesame, chicken, chicken, fried rice, and each of it requires green onions, and it would be useful to be able to grow my own and sell for 25% a grocery store charges
@dianabar10279 Жыл бұрын
Yes‼️ I’ve been doing this with green onions as well as normal brown or white onions, all onions actually for at least 15yrs now, I just have a big plant pot and put them in as often as I use them, initially it takes about a month or 2 but after that it’s endless onions until you stop!
@melodiepeach9367 Жыл бұрын
How are you doing it with normal onions?
@sarvesh.r.a7725 Жыл бұрын
Heyy! Can you please elaborate on how you are growing the normal onions? Thanks!
@dianabar10279 Жыл бұрын
@@melodiepeach9367 when you chop the root end off your onion that your using to cook with, put only the root part in water, between 1-3 days you’ll see roots growing, once you see the white root growing place in a pot or ground with nice good soil and water it, put them some where sunny, I water them initially only a bit of water every second day or so, after about a week or 2, you’ll notice the green tips come up, once the green start growing up dont water too much because they can rot,
@dianabar10279 Жыл бұрын
@@melodiepeach9367 It takes about 2-4 months to grow, I only water if it hadn’t rained for a while, push your fingers get in soil it should feel more dry than wet, the green leaves will grow nicely for ages then you’ll see them dying off, don’t water them anymore they will rot, let them go a week or more then move some soil away from the top and you’ll be able to see how it’s growing, when you think it’s ready pull it out and enjoy, so once you see the green drying off, only the tiniest watering needed, let them dry out in soil but keep checking
@dianabar10279 Жыл бұрын
@@sarvesh.r.a7725 hi, I replied to comment above in detail👆🏻 Goodluck and enjoy, it’s winter here in Australia now and I have 21 onions growing, it’s been very wet here so they are growing slowly but once it dries out a bit they’ll grow great

You can plant them all in the same pot, but they’ll only regrow 2 or 3 times. They’ll last longer if you plant them separately, and each one will grow into a full onion.

The cool thing is you can do this in the winter time too. I don’t know about ppl who live up north cause it gets real cold up there. But in places that get sometimes freezing or below freezing temps occasionally it still will grow just cover it overnight green onion all year.
