Straight or slightly wavy hair like yours and every picture you showed is INCREDIBLY EASY to grow out. It can easily be styled in many different ways and it will always look fine. However i have curly hair and its a MILLION times harder. You have no choice but to go through an awkward "afro" phase and it takes years longer for it to actually atart looking like long hair. 6 months of growth would be nearly long hair with straight hair, with curly hair you just look like you desperately need a haircut because it looks out of control no matter what you do

Only reason I'm not doing any maintenance cuts or even messing with the back or sides is because my hair is too thick and it's wavy/curly so I'm scared it'll fuck everything up. Sometimes it looks fine but man the mushroom moments suck

So I did what you did, but my haircut I started with was the haircut you called a jar head 😂 and as time went on, it grew into a mullet and then into a more of an anakin Skywalker! Thing is I always styled my hair as it grew out into a side part brushed back! And it layered itself!

I’m thinking I might attempt the kamikaze haha. I just got out of a relationship and have no desire to search for one, so I don’t have to worry about necessarily looking good. I think having straight hair is easier to maintain. I have thick coarse wirey churlish hair which after the 4th month phase makes styling it near on impossible as you can't style the sides.
