Six to eight inches deep, three inches apart in easy drainage soil, also you could give bulbs food in the Spring ,just for the new gardener

Bulbs form at the base of the tulip plant and you can harvest them or leave them there to come back next year

Your garden is beautiful and your tulips are so lushous, happy and beautiful. I am drawn to tulips for some reason and I am a beginner. Can you do more videos on the actual process. Like the life cycle and how to care for the bulb when they are done blooming, how and where to trim them back for proper storage etc. I am just not finding any really good videos on the whole process. In order to have beautiful Tulips year after year. Thank you.

A lot of great info. Tulip pods open up in the fall and the buds appear in spring. The only thing between that Is to ensure that the ground does not get flooded. I plant them in pots so that I can watch for heavy winter rains on weather apps like Climacell or Accuweather and take them indoors if needed.

Exactly how does the water in the saucer get to the soil? Evaporation and condensation? Osmosis? If the roots of the plant (for non-bulbs) don't reach to the bottom of the container, by what mechanism does the water in the saucer do any good?

I planted tulips and daffodils. The daffodils look great, but the tulips, which broke through the soil before the daffodils, are blooming but they aren't on a stalk at all. It's like a leaves with flowers, but no height! We happened?

+Mounir S. They come back each year if you winter them over properly and they produce more bulbs each year as well.

Yes, they are perineals and they grow back each year. But you have to take proper care in storing the bulb. There is lots of information on how to properly store a bulb.

Do you replant these every year, and your foliage on your plants seem so uniformed and not all flip floppity as i have seem on other tulip plants ,,they just look very uniformed and i love that look.

There is a hole in the bottom of the flower pot. Capillary action will allow water to rise against the force of gravity. (and Jedi magic)

+Ma Loy Pre-chill the bulbs for a minimum of six to eight weeks in a refrigerator at a temperature of around 40°F to 45°F (the temperature of most home refrigerators). If you use a refrigerator, be sure not to store any apples or other fruits alongside your bulbs. Ripening fruit naturally gives off ethylene gas which will kill the flower inside the bulbs.Don't worry if you bought the bulbs early in the season and need to store them for several months before planting. Keep them chilling - even up to 16 weeks if necessary, until it is time to plant.

I'm trying to grow tulips for 7 years now. I fail every single year (like everything else in my life, but that does not matter now). I'm trying to grow orange and blue tulips (because those colours are the perfect contrast) in my prison cell (aka. My bedroom) where I put them in a small pot on a small table in front of a small window. I water them once a week and unfortunately I can't open my window because it is forever locked so they never get fresh air. Can somebody please tell me what am I doing wrong?

Martina hi mertina all plant need fresh air . I think you should open window at least 3 times a day.

Your forcing a beautiful plant to stay in your bedroom? Why? You probably listen to super depressing music too while youre in there and the tulips respond to that.
