How is that any explanation, have you even seen a video of Derren hypnotizing anyone, and when would he have hypnotized them? Speculation isn't actually an explanation.

@@richardgates7479 with hypnosis, you can hypnotize someone to believe something and use triggers. You may have seen people get hypnotized on stage or street shows where they believed they had a different name than their real one, for instance. He could have hypnotized the guy to think that was his passwords and even hypnotize her to know what it was ahead of time. That said, Derren is an illusionist and for all we know, he just staged the whole thing and everyone was in on it. But he was using hypnotic techniques in this, so who knows.

The man is an actor. However, I believe Derren used his suggestion skills on the woman to put the image of 'bird' and 'song' in her mind whilst explaining how she would do it. When she began the mind reading, the words song and bird came to mind from the advice Derren suggested. Basically the woman walks away thinking she read the guys mind when really Derren just put the words in her head in the explanation.

I assume he just got her to Cold Read without her even knowing it. She started with a consonant (B), he admitted it was a proper word so therefore there's going to be a vowel next most likely. She said BIR then G, but from that it turned into Bird. And so on.

It's pretty simple. Darren positively motivates him to "send it to her" and "transmit it to Marie" motivating the guy to nod when she guesses closely. Then it becomes an easy guessing game. The brain can impress itself :)

i know how its done. Derren is stalking the guy.. found out his password by spying on him with binoculars.. then followed him when he went out and pretended he didnt know him.

Even though the man told the 'password' to Derren - he is obviously still impressed by the fact Derren got her to 'mindread' the password correctly. So both people involved still were impressed I think.

Every person communicates with their whole body. You don't have to speak for somebody else to subconsciously understand mood - thoughts require a little "more". Cue hypnosis on the receiver - not the sender.

Derren does not use actors. If he used actors, someone would have come out and told about it by now - particularly considering he starts ever show by saying he doesn't. It's not like he's new to it. This show's been out for over a decade. He's more well-known in the UK than Chris Angel or David Blaine are in the US.

I was sketching absentmindedly while watching a video in which Derren asked a woman to read a man's mind to see what he'd drawn on a piece of paper. The lady said "I think a shoe? . . ." It turned out that both the man and I had drawn a boot.

Very true. It's a shame, because both are good performers and talented magicians, but they don't hold a candle to Derren's mastery of his craft. Angel uses too many confederate audiences. Blaine always seems to be doing stunts instead of magic... and he always sounds like he's about to fall asleep.

I don't know how he did this, but there is no way he got a random stranger to guess another random stranger's password. Either at least one of them is an actor, or he somehow hypnotised them and that's not even that guy's password. Or some other method I can't even imagine, which is probably the truth.

Since no one answered your question I thought I would. It's simple, really. People are followers. They desperately want to believe in something, anything. So when a new magician comes up who wows them, to admit it's all an act would be to admit they're wrong and they have no rational justification to believe. And we know how that goes. When was the last time you heard someone say "I was wrong?" Not exactly an everyday occurrence, now is it? So that's what this is. Hero worship and stubbornness.

It's quite simple. The guy is an actor and all he basically had to do was say yes to whatever she conjured up in her mind. So she is choosing letters and forming them into a word, and all he has to do is agree. She could've said any word in the dictionary and it would've been his supposed password. There's no big mystery here.

I know he doesn't have actual magic - i'm just pointing out that you can't deceive someone honestly. It's an oxymoron. Why does everyone get so defensive of a new magician every few years? So quick to forget that they all use the same tricks - set-ups, actors and clever camera editing included.

No one is in on it. Derren Brown does enough of this shit in his live shows (where people are chosen completely randomly out of thousands of spectators - and I mean randomly, like by throwing Frisbees or beach balls around the audience). He can read people extremely well, on a level most of us cannot understand, and he can manipulate people just as well.

Probably they spotted him entering his password, then chose the girl and subjected her to visual/audio clues throughout her journey (pictures, words, sounds of a songbird) so the word was embedded in her subconcious. Then managed to attract them towards the group to perform the trick

It is not a stooge. People, please come up with better explanations and make sure you actually know what you are talking about. It was simple he just hypnotised him to say that it was his password, at least that is what i think. It would not be the first time Derren he has done this he once did a video where he walked into the shop and got the cashier to hand over the money and the cashier didn't even notice. Now my idea might be wrong but he does definitely not use stooges he says it at the start of all his videos.
