@@thenoobgardener just went out and followed your method. Btw, can you use the pollen from dried male flowers?
@thenoobgardener3 ай бұрын
@@Joshsmoove you can but I’m not sure how effective it is. Usually, you have roughly 24 hours to use the pollen once the flower turned male. Or you can try to collect the pollen and store in the fridge to use up to one week. You can cross pollinate too.

Can you use the pollen from a pollinated female flower after it opens to expose the pollen?
@thenoobgardener2 ай бұрын
Yes, however, I tend not to touch the female flower after it was pollinated in case I break it 😅

Hello, do I need to hand pollinate the whole tree?
@thenoobgardener11 ай бұрын
Only pollinate enough that your tree can handle. You can pollinate all but if your tree can’t handle all the fruits, it will automatically abort some and the rest may be small in size. Check out my latest video “August update” to get a feel on what your tree can handle. I current have 20-25 fruits per tree and they seem to be doing great at the moment.

It’s tough to tell with just the leaves. What does the fruit look like? Is the skin smooth or spiky?
@tonyzerafa91782 ай бұрын
@@thenoobgardener never had fruit yet
@thenoobgardener2 ай бұрын
@@tonyzerafa9178 I see. Too difficult to tell with just the leaves. Wait until it fruits, then you can compare it to what’s out there. Two of the most common varieties are geffner and African Pride. Might be one of those two.
@johannesels528810 ай бұрын
Does the female flower still go through the male phase even if pollinated? How did you know those two male flowers were not pollinated. Sorry for all the questions just a little confused with that part. I have Rollinia deliciosa so the flowers looks different to those ones, more like a little space shit and just a tiny hole in the bottom.
@thenoobgardener10 ай бұрын
Yes, pollinated or not female flowers will transition/activate their male parts after some time. So, if you are short on pollen, you can collect the pollen on already pollinated females(I do this sometime). Usually I don’t touch already pollinated females so that I don’t damage them accidentally. I assumed the male flowers were not pollinated because I did not pollinated them myself. You are right that they could have been pollinated naturally by bees/insects.

Just found your channel. Love how clean your garden is. What do you use to fertilize your trees?
@thenoobgardener10 ай бұрын
Thank you. I used to use organic compost but it was too messy and lots of work to dig up the soil every time. So I switched over to the synthetic 16-16-16 all purpose fertilizer from homedepot :)

How much do you Water cherimoya tree.. or how often do you deep roots watering them?
@thenoobgardenerАй бұрын
Right now it’s once a month for me. If it’s a new tree, do weekly or bi-weekly. Look at how the leaves develop, if it’s a healthy green then continue what you are doing. If it starts to slow down, small, yellowy, then you’re overwatering it.
@haoha2559Ай бұрын
@@thenoobgardener thanks for the quickly response, just start growing pink skin cherimoya .

That shouldn't be the case, in my experience, they all should start out as female. Check your tree though out the day. Some bloom in the morning and some in the afternoon.
