I am glad that whoever marked the quilt made the marks darker as now I can see them. I think that off camera the lighter marks are plain to see. Your quilting method is taking quite a bit more practice than I thought. THANK YOU very much.

Just found your channel & I am loving it. Lifetime seamstress, but only have been quilting for six years. Now I am only quilting. And I have been thinking about wanting to try quilting by hand my own quilts, instead of long arm quilting. So I am really enjoying your tutorials.

I live in the United States, this is definitely something I would like to learn. I am 70 years young. I truly think this is something I would love, but I would like to learn it the right way. Do you know of anyone in the United States that gives classes, or has online classes. I live in California.

I would recommend you search for the following book at a library.. The quilting makes the quilt. It is a really good tool for planning your quilting. Esther used to use that in her quilt design courses.

I was so lucky to meet you in Alsace, France in 2010. You showed me how to hand quilt, and I bought all the equipment from you. Haven't quite gotten to the fine stitches. Has only one large embroidery frame in wood, which I fasten the fabric. I hold the frame firmly by pressing it between my stomach and the edge of the table, to have both hands free, but then do not get the movement you show here. Do you have a good tip how I can solve this? Want to be able to hand quilt when I'm at the cabin, or other travel. Thank you so much for your web tutorial, I really needed a refresher. Greetings from Northern Norway.

Hi Anne-Karin, it is really hard to do a two-handed procedure when you are at the same time watching out that your frame does not slip. You need to have full confidence that your frame will stay where it belongs. For a DIY solution I would try to make amount so the frame can be clamped to the table or built a very simple frame (we will be giving some ideas about that in upcoming videos.) If you are looking to upgrade.. We can offer you our "Hope" series quilting frame. It is perfect for travel. You slide the base under your leg, adjust everything, then you have both hands free. Some people buy it for their camper so they can quilt while their partner drives.

@@millersquilting Thank you for the quick reply. Checked through your website and the one you are referring to is probably the "Hope" for 375 euros. It is quite a lot in Norwegian kroner, then shipping and customs in addition, come into Norway. Which type is the cheapest of them, if I go for a 16 "Must admit it would fit in my little cabin. May think about it, may start saving.

@@ann-karinbrkka3405 Yes our frames are not cheap. They are handcrafted in our small family-run workshop here in Germany. We believe its worth saving for. There is a 14 inch or 16 inch hoop. The wood variety makes no difference in the price on the small frames.

Hello from central Queensland, Aus - may I ask what size thread you are using and also do you change colours? Thanks
@millersquilting
@millersquilting Жыл бұрын
Esther typically quilted with white or natural. When she wanted to create a specific effect she would use other colors. Her rule of thumb was.. The better your quilting the less it matters whether you use contrasting thread or not. Esther always only quilted with yli cotton quilting thread. 30 weight. That is after she found it..

It sounds like you are not bringing the needle up between stitches. Remember to lift, make contact with the Needleslide, then lower your thumb again to slide across. Let me know if it helps.
