My favorite florist in LA. I visited my mom yesterday and came across one of your fish bowls with the gross grain ribbon. So I made a quick spiral hand tie with Costco flowers and tied the bouquet with your signature ribbon. Mom loved it. And though I will never achieve your level, I do appreciate the craftsmanship of this type of bouquet.

What's the purpose of bringing the stem up to your left shoulder?

I believe he wanted to emphasize the direction and using the shoulder as a guide to place the flower. Maybe more for a beginner until one gets in their own rhythm.

Placing the head of the flower to the shoulder that is opposite your working hand will remind you which direction to place the flower (diagonally, so that the stems spiral); it's amazing how easy it is to overthink which way to put the stem, otherwise, and waste time fixing the placement!

@@jaimemorgan5323 Thank you for the explanation. Excellent help to understand the purpose and value of getting into a rythm of adding from the shoulder. A sort of protection from wasting time. I can definitely relate to how that would help me so much to stay on task/prevent mistakes that would likely make me think I should just to start over.
