Yes. Patients have rights and to be angry is totally understandable. But keep in mind. Nurses and doctors have a lot of stress and a lot of patients to deal with. At least try to be kind and considerate. Even if the situation is uncomfortable. Try techniques that can calm you so you, your nurse and doctor can come to an agreement and communicate better. Give health care workers a break and put yourself in their position. They deal with enough everyday.😊

You don’t deal with a patient who is verbally abusive... you will tell her you will come back when she is ready to talk or the patient has cool down... Do not allow the patient to verbally abuse you because it will destroy your morale for the entire shift. Remember, you still have other patients to take care of...don’t let that patient strip your soul.

OK...if you are on a water boil and cannot give the patient ice chips then you say so the first time she asks. AND...you do not tell her you can bring her a "Rag". I just don't even know what that is right there. Nasty and Clueless. ALSO>>>knowing there will be a need for water at the very least you should have LOTS of bottled water already on hand and COLD. You could also alert patients of this beforehand so they can bring not only their own water but a small cooler with crushed or chipped ice. After the whole rag comment I just couldn't even finish watching this.

I had a lot of patience like that and you have to have love for people , tolerance and patience yourself for patience and that don't come with a degree unfortunately I seen nurses be rude and mean to patience when I was in that line of work I was just a CNA certified nursing assistant so I didn't think I had a say or power to say anything when I see a nurse be mean just because the patient is being mean but I took a chance and went to the administrator and they was happy I came to them and was very concerned like I was if you can't deal with rude patience, scared ,bossy patience or family this job is not for you all the college in the world won't give you love and care for patience you just have to have it I was ask by my administrator to become a RN she said we need people like you that was years ago I'm thinking about persuing it in a couple of years because I want to make a difference in the world once I get better from my car wreck.

The first nurses were awful. They deserved all the abuse. At 2:37 the "good" nurse could have explained what they were doing to check on the baby I agree with the patient. I wouldn't want those nurses in my room either.

Medicine is a science and an art and this idea of standardizing patients is just weird. It kind of takes the fun out of medicine!!! Why did they come up with this? Maybe because Some doctors today are so lack of confidence in themselves that they feel the need to have a formula for everything. As if they will be successful by memorizing and categorizing patients as cases.... so if you have a case of an "angry patient" say this and ask this questions...... if you have a case of a patient with "depression" say this and ask this other questions. I bet that before you realize it you just turned into a Robot doctor!!!! because you dont even listen anymore you are just waiting to finish the questions on your checklist and move on to the next patient and that is exactly what I don't want to be!!! Just be spontaneous, be honest, be empathetic, be respectful, be yourself and really listen. Maybe I am old school and a Romantic of medicine or Maybe its a cultural difference. I am from Mexico. Just a point of view. Cheers!

This looks like it was produced for a nursing school and it's pretty disgusting that we are just teaching nurses to take abuse. I understand that L&D is a bit different but I've seen other videos and it's honestly concerning. Ans the way tbe family talked to the nurse was not ok. Theres a really pervasive idea that you can treat healthcare workers like garbage among patients and it's not ok. And from a patient I could understand but the patients family that's just unacceptable.

Well, my dear mother died in that dreadful Hospital she was totally neglected by rude uncaring nurses specially these two nasty male and female nurses from the Philippines a man and a women on the 3rd Febuary late afternoon a few hours before she died they entered my mother's room to ajust her bedding, no respectful silence. The man without making eye contact with me immediately gestured rudely towards the door with his arm pointing his finger and in a very unfriendly sounding voice ordered me outside "wait outside" ! I watched from outside as they had a lively conversation over my dying mother as they adjusted her bedding they came out and the man again without looking at me said rudely go inside pointing his finger toward my mother's room door. Horrible disrespectful lacking empathy, uncaring standing around chatting and neglecting elderly patience is my experience of that awful Hospital. of the so called very busy nurses. Show less REPLY

Carol Jones I am sorry to hear that and I do understand your feelings towards those 2 morons. It’s totally unacceptable. I think they are not Professional Registered Nurse. Because they don’t know how to provide proper care for the dying patients and how to deal with family’s grief. I am from the philippines as well but I’ve never done anything like that for the past 9 years of practising my profession. I hoped you complained them to the administration and put them right where they belong! Honestly, seeing a patient die is the worst feeling I have to deal everytime I did my best I could to help the patient live but it’s all in God’s hand. It’s a constant reminder that someday I will be on that bed too and our time on earth is limited! So do good and not harm! I’ve always lived up to that principle. Anyways, I hope and pray to God that your Mum is at peace and happy on the other side. God bless you!

My 34 yr old sister was in her last few weeks of life, she told the doctor lying in bed at home how much pain she was in and where it was instead of just giving her more pain relief, in a not so nice voice he goes into that its her last stage of this disease, she is dying as if she didn't know that (even though he has been her doctor of over 5 yrs since she found out about her stage 4 cancer) my mother could not believe the way he said it to her, if my sister wasn't dying she could've punched him in the face.
