How To Handle When Your KIDS CRASH Hard - LONG VERSION

The truth about these sports is that crashing is inevitable. It’s how you learn where you need to be positioned on your board, what speed is the sweet spot, how much pop you need. All of it is learned by doing and most of the time you don’t land it first try. Sometimes you do and wad up on a later try on a different jump.
The true passion of the sport comes with the willingness to get back up after those crashes and keep going. It’s kind of a sick addiction to show yourself that you are capable. That you can do it.
With Cash we have experienced a lot of crashes. Some worse than others. We always run through a full body check, including mentally. She truly loves this as she is the one that decides if she is going again or if it’s time to break. It could be our first run and we have no problem stepping down and calling it a day if she’s not in it mentally or physically.
Our first day in LAAX she went big. She saw those jumps and with her success in Verbier, she was fired up. Unfortunately the lip was a bit more than she thought and it bucked her. She wadded up and came down hard. We immediately tended to her to determine injuries and her mental scared factor. After a good look over she said “LETS GO!” She was a bit more timid the second try as you can hear in her apprehension but she went and then that third one, STOMPED IT!
We are beyond proud of her for her bravery in the face of fear. So here’s to you small fry for getting back up and showing us the true meaning of Do It Scared.

Great job, Dad (and Mom) checking her out! Then to have Cashy nail it like she did, just amazing! We’ve seen her do that before though…crash, just to turn around and nail it. She learns fast! (Loved what you wrote in the description box! Most people don’t probably even know about it, which is sad…because then they could get more information!)

What?? Please explain further!!
@FernCurtis
@FernCurtis Жыл бұрын
@@robyn9414 Explain what further? About the description box? If that is what you want to know about, then it is really simple. EVERY video on KZfaq, has what is called a description box. This is where the owner of the channel can put additional information, links to other videos, easy links to products that they recommend, etc. It is also a place where, if someone wants to, they can read a transcript of the video. Although, from what I personally have seen, transcripts are not always perfect. Especially when there is a lot of action going on, as well as talking. Like with Rowley’s Adventures. Not every content creator uses it. Maybe they don’t know about it, maybe they don’t know how to use it or maybe it’s just that they don’t have anything extra to share. However, it IS there for their use, to give us more information. So, now you are probably wondering, how do we find the description box. That is very simple as well. Right below the videos is the title of the video. Below that, you will see the following: how many views of video, how long ago the video was done, etc., at the very end of all that, will be the word “more” and it will be done in “bold type”. That is the link to get to the description box, regardless of which channel you are watching. Just simple tap/click on “more” and it will take you to the description box. Depending on the content creator and how much they want to add, depends on how much you need to scroll to see everything or to find a particular item that you are possibly looking for. When you are finished, there will an “X”, usually at the very top on the right hand side, just tap/click that on to get out of the description box. Hope that helps! 🙂

But I fell more in that one day than I did in my whole life of skiing. My butt was black and blue the next morning. Great job to your little girl! Her skills smokes mine! And great job to you for how you handled that crash. You didn't act all "Oh my God! Are you alright?!" Kids react to how we react. This is awesome. I wish all parents could watch your approach since "crashes" happen while learning just about everything (walking, running, bicycles, etc). You have to be confident in your own skills with handling trauma as well as your kid's. Love seeing that, short of an injury, SHE is free to make the decision whether to take a break or try again!! And as she gets older she'll incorporate the "injury check" into her own skills and not just jump up and say "I'm ok" without knowing if she is. Finally, I love how you don't dumb down anything for her. She knows the vocab and it shows. I love watching you guys! Woooweee. Weeewooo!

So, is Nick an EMT or First Responder? Or maybe snowboarders just learn by experiencing their own traumas. Either way, the physical assessment for injuries was well done and your little maniac is a tough cookie. I ran calls on an ambulance for years, but I imagine bringing possible spinal injuries off a ski run would be difficult at best. (where I lived it was horse and cattle wrecks that made us clench our hineys up lol) But in the end, trauma is trauma no matter where it happens, and being prepared helps create better outcomes. In my world it was "if you get bucked off, you get right back on." (so the horse didn't think he won lol) Way to get back on, Cashy! You sure showed that mountain who's the boss! Have a wonderful rest of your day. 🙂💜

That brings back memories of learning to snowboard at age 46. I was learning to jump couple of years later. I said to myself, now you did it ! And after the initial shock of crashing I was OK. I'm 70 now and may have a couple days left still .
