This man is single handedly carrying the Canadian dentistry industry on his back

I have practiced dentistry for forty years and have loved every minute of it. I don’t see myself slowing down and want to continue practicing for at least another ten years. That’s when my office manager turns 62 and can collect social security. She has been with me since she was 19 and doesn’t want to work for anyone else. The younger staff members are loving it too and didn’t complain when we lost our hygienist and had to do restorative work Monday through Thursday followed by Hygiene Friday and Saturday. They are there for our patients and totally committed. Of course, I reward them well with occasional three day weekend outings to exotic places where we can have fun partying or hanging out by the beach or pool to relax. Life is good when you are rich in health and rewarding staff and patient relationships. So why cut your career short?

70 is stretching it mentally and physically, maybe 25-55? I don’t think many people would be fit to practice after 55+ I agree with you, becoming an oral surgeon on 300k or whatever at 30 and then only practicing for 10 years is one way to do it and another lot different to ~100k for 30 yrs I think the second way is the better way to do it Though I don’t think a lot of careers people make more than 3million lifetime just from dentistry unless ur very good at the business side of it and I don’t see how a 100k / yr salary is not enough for anyone to have financial freedom.
