You saved our SuperBells ! You made me look like a hero ( of course I look like hero because I researched and found you and all your videos ) Ours were looking dreadful and I took some of your tips and in two days they already are looking much better. I also noticed that you have them in larger containers than whet we had so I re potted to a larger one. I believe also the extreme Georgia son may be a bit too intense so I brought them closer to the porch so not the get the mid day intense sun. Thank you so much ! This is only one of a few times I have learned from your videos - It was high time I thanked you !

Hey Laura, great video. I really enjoy and learn with your 'plant spotlight', I think I'll change up my hanging baskets twice a year and this information really helps me to choose my plants properly. Any way, could you include the greenhouse more in the garden tours? I know it's probably where you keep all the secret projects and future plants to use in the garden, but I'm super curious as to what's growing in there :) I'm really excited to watch the next garden tour by the way

I have a whole chunk of them, and they are still blooming like crazy,a few tips from me is,give the plant fertilizer, well drained soil, but not completly dry soil either, lots of sunlight during morning , during the day, but they love to be in shade in the evening,keep away slugs, they decimates the flovers, but dont eat the plant, tastes bad lol, most important remove the spent flovers, othervise they wont bloom again,. they go to seed ! and youre left with green leaves

@Garden Answer - I didn’t add fertilizer when potting my supercells. Do you recommend repotting it? Can you use the slow release fertilizer at the same time using the water soluble?
@chuckyee39
@chuckyee39 4 жыл бұрын
You don’t need to repotting it. She uses the slow release n the water soluble at the same time. But the slow release fertilizer is once or twice in whole summer n water soluble is weekly or biweekly. My garden store owner always puts the slow release fertilizer over the top soil of my hanging baskets when I buy them. Then I give the water soluble fertilizer every week.

I am not patient enough to wait 4 months to grow million bells like that. I kept thinking what’s wrong with my bells!! I still think my million bells are dying maybe because of overwatering? But it’s been almost two months and they barely passed over the rim of the basket. On top of that, something chopped up so many stems . So frustrated.

@Jeanina CV Laura always fills her containers all the way to the top but leaves one inch from the top free of soil so that when you water your container, the soil won't spill out. I hope that helps.

I'm glad it wasn't just me!!! After spending $6.00 per plant, I'm not sure 🤔 that I will try them again. I have lots of green foliage but hardly any bloom. I even purchased the water soluble PW fertilizer. My calliope geraniums are doing great n the ground. They are completely choked out in the pots by the non blooming "super" tunias. I'm in the SE corner of Washington State so desert climate. The pots get 8 hours of sun and water twice a day. Been very disappointed 😔.

I live in Norway, and coastal washington has pretty much the same climate as I, but dessert climate is hard to grow plants in, dry warm air with lots of sunshine is a plant killer,. any who,. what I did with my superbells was, I bought them half price with no flowers at our store, as they was about to be thrown away because they had no flowers,. Now, I cut off most of the hanging leaves around the hangingbasket they were in, leaving just the top,. I then gave them bonemeal, and some new soil at the top ,then left the plants in the sun, and watered them once every day, very important! just a soak and let the plant drain and dry up, before the next day,. this was done in early june. now they are huge and flovers like crazy,. I always remove spent flovers, and keep cutting of stragling branches just to keep the plant looking nice,. hope this helps,. superbells need a liitle maintanence and removal of spent flovers is crucial othervise they produce seeds and youre left with the green leaves and little to no flovers,.

Thor Kipperberg wow Thor! Lots of info. Thank you. I have two acres to deal with so I like no fuss no muss kinda girl. I made the mistake of placing a potato vine in the same pot. It doesn't tolerate drought at ALL. I've been using Osmocote (time released) as well as PW water soluble fertilizer. I may go back to Miracle Grow next year. I'm going to compare the formulary. Mine do get 8 hours of sun but not more than that. Here in the desert we had temps in excess of 100 degrees in July, not uncommon. Regular petunias do great in that heat as long as their roots stay moist. Gardening is all about trial and error. That's what keeps it interesting. Anyway, thank you for all the info Thor! Great name BTW. Your my first Thor to ever communicate with.

I wouldlove to know your climate, when you get your rains, your temps, everything and when you plant these horrific monsters because i've tried and tried and tried. In our winter which is dry sunny and cool/warm they green up nicely but wont flower, just when they start flowering in our Spring they rot because of the rain and so far I've never got one to grow at all in summer because of the heat humidity and frequent rains. Generaly they seem to collapse rather easily succumbing to fungal diseases, things like black leg, moulds unless you use consistant fungicide drenches which are a not good for the environment. In any case not getting any fowers is not much of an incentive.........So for me now a complete non-starter of a plant. I crave to know wat kind of climate these things grow in in the wild because that would be a clue to how to grow them in our gardens. Yes our plant shops keep selling them all year which is ridiculous because they simply don't grow in all climates obviously, they're also not resistant to anything at all, worse than the old petunias. BTW growers or producers of these things use tons and tons of fungicide so not very green overall. They also like acidic soil........
