Fort Davis, TX. We finally got electricity. I really hope everyone does. I had to break out my camping gear and my old army deployment bag. I am so upgrading my house and getting it off grid. This was horrible. My cousin lost 3 newborn calves. As a community we came together so beautifully. My neighbors were so prepared. We are all retired law enforcement or prior service military. Lol! Prayers for yall and warm thoughts. 🙏

I've seen this, I've seen people making their own candles that burn for a really long time instead of the tea lights, using melted vegetable shortening and small mason jars. So don't throw away the tea light candle containers, get some cotton string or birthday candles and make your own tea light candles.

Carbon monoxide detector low down is key- it’s heavier than air. So it needs to be low down. Also vent lower. Heat rises. So venting from lower could eliminate the CO and keep heat in
@sroberts605 Жыл бұрын
This is a myth - CO is slightly lighter than air and diffuses evenly in air. Best to put the detector say a foot below ceiling height, but anywhere will do.

This only works in a very small room. I built mine several years ago to supplement the air in my living room near the sofa, like a tiny space heater. You could not feel it when the outside air was 35F but a small amount above that to 45F and more success at temps above 46F.

We have added a wood stove bought a gas powered generator i have installed in the attic/workshop piped the exhaust out a vent and runs off a 5 gallon drum also added 4 solar panels just incase 8 years ago. Haven't had to use them yet thanks to a strong electrical grid. It gets well below zero here in the winter and sometimes upwards 100 here in the summer. Literally insulation in the walls keeps the cold in in the summer and the warm in in the winter.
