There's a right way and a wrong way to hit your irons with a higher trajectory and most are doing it wrong. Discover the right way to do this and you'll not only hit the ball longer, but you'll make more consistent contact with the golf ball.

I love how your bad example swings are still more consistent, better stuck and ball flight is still great than what I can do lol

This powering through with the hips was the final piece to the puzzle for me. I’ve drilled by changing my grip, my posture, my control of the club face, and after watching this video I went to the range just now and my slice is gone, my shots are either straight or right to left draw, and my yardage has increased 30-50 yards! My drives were 250+ with some roll! Thank you so much for all your awesome instructional videos Clay and all the hard work put in by your Top Speed Golf team! My confidence with my golf swing has increased tremendously because of you! THANK YOU!

I'm delofting,sliding and flipping with a 90-95mph club speed and getting huge distance with no lofted line drives. As you said it's somewhat inconsistent for me. If I don't flip at impact I loose tremendous distance. I've been searching for an answer and believe this video has finally given it! THANK YOU!

Clay going with Mt. Man look. Looks great! In Hilton Head a couple of weeks ago. My drives were everyone's envy. I finally have "the move" consistently part of my swing. Drives are straight, low, powerful, and penetrating. Roll out is awesome. It's made all the difference! Thank you!!!

Watching your video I noticed that when you pushed your hips vs rotating them that’s what I have been doing. I immediately took this knowledge to the range. All of a sudden my ball flight was tremendously improved (higher ),I gained a lot of distance, and a slight draw. All of which I have never had. Thank you so much.

Clay I almost feel like to correct the sway is to almost stand straight with the slight knee bend slightly bent over the normal set up but I feel like your hips naturally will turn correctly if you get the shoulder to rotation. Almost like a feeling of loose hips and more emphasis on the shoulders. I’m a beginner but it feels better to concentrate on the shoulders than the hips

Man, I just ❤️ the channel. Gives me new stuff to go practice all the time. Serious question about backswing terminology. Hogan ‘lean in’ & Snead ‘squat’ and your ‘power turn’. Could use some clearing up. Seems to me that there are so many different ways to use the hips in the takeaway, transition & downswing. I’m a bit confused on perhaps ‘feels’ or if everyone is just moving different and us average golfers are to choose a style or path to take. Seems to me copying Hogan, Snead & your breakdown detail of the ‘power turn’ are all great ideas. But is Hogan’s lean in the same as Sam Sneads squat (where his knees almost separate) ? Seems that doing a takeaway, lean in, squat & rotate is a bit much to do & makes it difficult (for me anyway) to not rush the down swing. Seems like the ‘lean in’ is more of a continuation of going towards to the ball around our backsides as where the Snead ‘squat’ is more of a move forward towards the front left foot. Please explain ...
@TopSpeedGolf
@TopSpeedGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Royle, the Power Turn is just turning your shoulders to at least 90 degrees in the backswing and then turning them in the downswing all the way into the full finish. This is very important for distance. The things you're referring to with Snead and Hogan or more advanced moves to help stay in your posture. I wouldn't even think about those until you get the Power Turn down. Play well! Quentin | TSG Instructor

So for the long irons you want to be kinda leaning away and behind the ball at impact? What’s the weight distribution for your feet at the point of impact for the long iron? With a short iron you want to be weight on the front foot and in front of the ball right?
@TopSpeedGolf
@TopSpeedGolf 3 жыл бұрын
The swing is the same for all full swing/shots. You'll want your weight to be transitioning to your lead leg well before impact on all these swings. That is not the same thing as tilting forward or backwards. Having a stable and fluid spine is the most important aspect of consistency and why it's the first pillar of the TSG system on our site. Play well! Nate | TSG Instructor

Revelation time for me. I turn back perfect, (video proof) my issue ends with straight right arm at impact. Looks like the right arm should not be straight until just after impact. I think this is my reason for flipping and also restricting the rotation of right side thru ball. Let’s hope my analysis is correct. Straight line release problems.

I’m hitting around 220. My goal is 250. Should I keep watching videos or do you think it’s better to get a coach to reach my goal? I’m a beginner.
@TopSpeedGolf
@TopSpeedGolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Matthew, if you have the means then getting a coach would likely help the most. You need to swing about 100 mph and hit the ball solid to hit it 250 yards. Best of luck! Quentin | TSG Instructor

I’m a 7 handicap, but struggle hitting my 4, 5 irons straight. My misses are always slight pull hooks. I’m suspicious that my hips/shoulders are not turning enough. Does that make sense as the culprit?

Huge eye opener for me. My angle has been way too steep, I’ve been coming down hard on the top of the ball, to the point where I’m embarrassing myself at the driving range. I just checked my video to see I wasn’t rotating the hip, I was swaying back, then swaying forward. It’s instant death to my swing.

Clay, thank you! I've been hitting my irons about 10 yards short. Knew my lag was good and smash factor was decent but just couldn't get them to where they use to be. Really thought it was a factor of apex (my 8 iron was about 60 ft) This video did it. Fortunately I have a Skytrak. Went to the hitting bay and sure enough, little to no hip rotation! I got those 10 yds back, apex is now 75 Ft, but my swing speed hasn't changed - YET. Thank you brother!
