It should be mandatory for every golfer to watch Clay Ballards videos b4 playing, it just improves the game so much, i went from playing at around 95 to having broken 80 to being in the top 70s now over the last 4 months, this is really really impressive and beats the living piss out of every pro session i've had.

wow, I had never heard this before. That's super easy to understand. Hitting a ball FAT is the worst experience after hitting a nice drive to the middle of the fairway. The game is more enjoyable when you play well obviously.

This method is almost certainly why you have to keep coming back... its like "yeah, Jenny Craig has worked for me 5 times" ...did it though? I don't know your swing, so it's possible that this is exactly what you need. Probably though you need a more nuanced, less golf digest kind of answer. Send me a video, let's have a look

Nice Video! Excuse me for the intrusion, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you considered - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great one off guide for revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my close friend Aubrey after a lifetime of fighting got excellent success with it.

Magic. I took this drill to the range today. I had the good fortune to work with a pro that also preaches the “step into the shot” drill. Combined with a reference line, I hit 90% of my shots with ball first contact. I have more work to do, but this was one-session magic. Thank you Clay.

New subscriber here. You have an excellent series of videos. I play to a 5 handicap but used to hit 2-3 "fat"irons per round which usually lead to a tough par scramble or more often a bogey. After watching this video and practicing the technique I've reduced those fat shots by at least 50%. You're video on pitching has also helped me around the greens. That is still the weakest part of my game but still working on it. Well done sir!

I`m 58 yrs old, I never hit the ball first, I shoot low to high 50`s every week in league play. I broke 50 this week, I shot 47 my partner was impressed that I can hit my 3 wood now, and hitting the ball first with my irons. I was a self taught hacker. I watch your videos evry week before golf. Now I come 3/4 back slowly and power through with my hip turn. I used to play all arms. I`m ready to shoot 45 and win some skins. I get strokes because of my 14 handy cap. You sir are the best teacher on you tube hands down. thanks so much, i`m a much more confident golfer.

Took this lesson out to the garage for about 50 swings and instead of thinking about where my hips and my belt buckle is I was solely focused on my right shoulder. Bam! Oh crap, did I say a month? My bad. lol I still use the right shoulder thought in my warm up and game and I have been getting plenty of 'nice swings' out there since drilling this. I've always had pretty good contact, esp with the irons, so for me it's not really a game improvement thought more so I just look like I know what I'm doing now instead of falling all over the course! :)

I gotta say since i started watching Clay Ballards movies i've shaved off 7 points off my hdc since march, this has by far been the most useful of them all, i dont stray off the fairway now at all, my only problem has been the range which seems to fluctuate a bit more with about 20 yards difference, i suspect it has to do with my strength increasing rapidly. I've also added about 100 yards to my drive since last year, which is a substantial amount am now at 300-340 carry (i'm a big guy with alot of flex and arm/backmuscles, so yeah i do actually drive really far) My problem has always been my short game and my iron control, since hitting the divots it has just added a beautiful perfection to my game, and im proud to say that im now working on my sand strokes and putting to really perfect my game. So thanks a million Clay, you have truely been a fantastic coach for me without us ever having met =D

Step through the ball (my term) drill works so good because it takes your brain out of the move. Stay away from the driving range. Even a bad swing will work on the driving range. Also take a tip from Bubba Watson and through out alignment thoughts. Its a waist of your journey. Always remember that the swing you find today may not work tomorrow. When you get to the first tee, take two clubs and swing them until you loosen up like an ondeck baseball batter. Once you get over the ball on the first tee find a comfortable setup possition and let it rip. If it works stick with it. If not try something different on your next shot. The only time you should be satisfied with golf is the day you quit it.

This really is a superb tip, and is exactly what I've been struggling with: hitting a great drive then knobbing it up with an abysmal 2nd / approach shot (duff, thin, shank, hook etc etc can strike at any time) . I've tried it this morning (minus the spray) and have been hitting the best irons I've hit for ages. Lovely crisp compression sound, good looking divot and pretty much bang on my yardages. Let's hope I can translate it into lower scores! Thanks Clay :)

Nah, lame drill... too many moving parts! When you step sideways toward the target while swinging, you're introducing another unwanted variable into your already complicated swing. Doing the extra sidestep movement during a swing reduces your balance/stability and messes up your ball-striking accuracy. It's better to just place more weight (60/40) on the leading leg during setup to help you hit down steep and catch the ball first instead of letting most of your weight fall on the back leg during the downswing causing you to hit fat behind the ball. It's a much simpler method that you can employ on course in real play instead of just on the range.

Clay your as good an instructor as you are at replying back at your viewers. This has been one of my biggest problems I've been working on to overcome. I've had many that I've been working on one at a time. I've been stuck on this one for a while I've known what my problem was just couldn't find much info how to overcome it. This video though has helped me make huge progress. I played several years ago and got out of the game but in my return progress has been so much faster because I can see a problem get on KZfaq and watch guys like yourself showing and telling me what I need to do to correct it. Thanks for your videos I'm subscribing today and look forward to summer to take new knowledge from some great players that I didn't have in the past. I'm older but I'm defenently wiser

Great tips. The forward weight shift and proper shoulder rotation is a fundamental must in a good golf swing. I know that I will use these drills. Time to start Dr. Scholling the local range mats
