No, it's boiling It's has something to do with the atmospheric pressure The lower the pressure the lower the boiling point is

@@GamerCalebYT actually it is boiling. The atmospheric pressure will effect the temperature that water boils at. This is why baking/cooking instructions need to be modified at high altitude

@@terrafirma5327 Do try to pay attention - they covered this. What you're looking at is low-pressure cavitation effects from the brownian movement of the molecules. It's normally damped by air pressure. Cooking pasta requires heat foremost, but liquid to soften it. Ever put a pack of soft pasta in the microwave? It's got enough liquid, which gets agitated by the microwave radiation and heats, cooking itself.

“If you took pasta and put it in cold water and removed the pressure so that it boils, it would not cook.” Sounds like an experiment to do. But yeah, this is also why pressure cooking can cook things faster, with the higher pressure, the liquids boil at a later temperature, which means you can get it up to a higher heat.

puellanivis it won’t work (I think) the boiling water softens the pasta making it edible (and if it’s frozen it has to thaw out)

@@selkkat3634 indeed, it should get soft no matter what, but it won’t _cook_ (denature the proteins) which means even if it gets soft, you still won’t want to eat it, because it will still be raw flour.* But I really don’t know for sure what it would really do… I’d like to just see them do it for the heck of it and see what ends up. *: As mentioned before on TKOR, the reason you shouldn’t eat raw cookie dough is because of the raw flour.

This works because of the vapour pressure concept, water or any liquid boils when it's vapour pressure is equal to its surrounding pressure, as for water, to equate it's vapour pressure to atmospheric pressure, it's temp must be 100°C, that's why at higher altitudes water boils at lower temperatures like 70°C so takes longer time to cook, on contrary of this video, pressure cooker increases the surrounding pressure so the water boils at higher temps like 120°C so less time to cook, theoretically at perfect vacuum water can just boil with heat of our hands

I showed the syringe one to my coworkers a few years ago. They refused to believe that it was boiling even though it happened right before their eyes. We're in the medical field so we have syringes around. They instead it was doing something else because I didn't apply heart to it. They were also all very fermiler that water boils at different temperatures in higher elevations like Denver.

the 2nd experiment is pretty cool, How long does that last? I wonder if TKOR can use that as a center and create a fountain like Grant use to do it. boiling water bulb in the center and some contraption that constantly pours water over it.
