I have this mixer and it is amazing for the price and what you get. Unfortunate about so many of the negative comments, because it's very clear most negative comments emanate from a complete lack of understanding of the CD/Tape buttons for monitoring/recording returns, combined with not understanding the line inputs v the RCA input/outs. That is explained in the video and why it is better to use a line input direct to the mix rather than the RCA input which bypasses the mix controls. Also, a 3.5mm jack can be split with an inexpensive cable that isolates the send and return signal. Sometimes it is better to fully understand the device you bought rather than bash the messenger.

I don't get all the negative comments? I followed your instructions and it works as a great device for my Condenser Microphone to my Macbook!

Thanks for the video. One might want to take note that according to a representative, this mixer does not have the full 48 volts of phantom power. I think that it was stated that it only supplies 18 volts. The representative stated that one could get the full 48 volts from the 802 and I guess, higher up. Cheaper mics, like the Chinese condenser mics, should have no problem. They may have modified these since the review found on Amazon. Thanks, again. This was really helpful.

I have a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer and it took me a long time to realise that it was its crappy preamps that were causing my recordings to be so bad. They are thin and lifeless. I replaced it with a Mackie 402VLZ4, and it's a huge improvement.

Well, unless your laptop lets you change the mic input to line level in software, the line level signal coming from the mixer (-10dB) will be too high for the mic input's pre-amp stage. This should lead to the signal being distorted, though you may get away with it if you set the recording level low. To approach the signal to noise ratio of which your sound card is capable, however, you need to record at as high a level as possible, (i.e., without clipping), so this is no good!

Could you not use an auxiliary cable and put an adapter on one end, then plug the end with the adapter into the left mono line out on the mixer and and the other end into the line in 3.5mm headphone style jack on your pc?

The best way to do it is buying a behringer UCA 202 soundcard it has usb cable that goes into the computer and in and outputs rca that go into the mixer. Never use the computer headphone input.

Yes as long as you're using a ring/tip (rca) to 1/8th stereo cables to your computer or if you have a behringer UMB222 interface (buy one!) then all you need is 2 ring/tip rca cables, plug it into the UMB222 which then plugs into your computer via usb. Then just run the main line to your monitors and you'll be good to go for recording playback etc.

2:58: The CD/Tape Output should go to the Line In of your soundcard NOT the Mic In. If you're using a laptop with only mic and headphones sockets, you'll need an audio interface such as Behringer's own UCA222 (USB).

Agree with previous comments such as Skyfyler. Leaving out the connection or possible connections to the PC makes this tutorial frustrating.

Hello, I need help. I have a xenyx 502 and I measure the direct connector with the multimeter to see how many volts it measures and it says 15v instead of 48v from the phantom power. Is that measurement correct or have I been scammed with a damaged mixer?

If you just have 1 plug it into the left input (That's the main mono input) if you have 2 then you'll have full stereo monitors ready to go for your studio. Hope that helps

Unstable digital signal. Do yourselves a favour and get a mixer with XLR outputs, that way your signal is balanced and wholesome - much easier to mix, let alone, listen to.

I have a xenyx 502 mixer ...I have a digitech rp360 guitar processor... and a BOSS rc-30 loopstation plugged into it .....I have Toontrack superior drummer midi on my computer....when I record tracks with my guitar& drums directly onto my loopstation it plays back loud and clear .....when I copy/paste my loopstation tracks to my computer then to my windows movie maker and post it to youtube and facebook, it loses a LOT of volume!!!!! ......would connecting my xenyx mixer to my PC solve this problem???....can anyone elaborate on this please and thank you.

I watched your video and i tried to connect my Neewer studio microphone to the Xlr port in the 502 mixer. i connected the headphones in the PHONES jack.The power indicator is on. the "CD/TAPE TO PHONES" button is down/clicked. Hey I connected the mixer phones and computer as shown in the video. Mic works, but I get sound only in recording, and they are mixed like if I listen to music and speak into mic I get both sounds combined. The only way for me to get what I want was to plug headphones directly to PC so now I have no control of audio playback over mixer. Do you have 1 or 2 b215d? Yes you can. Just plug in a normal 1/4x1/4 cable from the main out into the back of the b215 into the input. and your good to go.

Hi, Thanks for the nice tutorial! I set up my system as yours, but one of the speaker doesn't have sound. Here is my set up: Behringer 502 mixer out put to receiver receiver hooks up 3 speakers. karaoke box goes into the mixer RCA unbalanced microphone goes into the mixer. The microphone can pick up the sound to other speakers, but the right speaker has no sound. I have tested my speaker system separately, and they all work fine. Why do you think it's not working? I see a problem, if you try and record out to the pc ,not using the rca's, say a vocal over a backing track. To hear the backing track so you can sing along with it, the out from the computer with the track playing will have to come in via the line input. If you now record a vocal out to the computer both the backing track and the vocal will record on one track and start a feedback loop because there is not a button like on the rca to cancel a sound source from recording on to your vocal track. So how can you hear the backing track without recording it ? If I have got this wrong and you know a work round that allows recording without a feed back loop, listening to the backing track and recording a vocal at the same time on a mixer of this type, using only the jack connections please correct me and tell me how it's done..
