I have a couple of tips for the next time you try this: 1) Scuff the plastic: You can use a Scotch Brite pad to lightly sand the plastic. The tiny scratches will help the paint stick to the plastic & they won't show up when you're done painting. 2) Plastic Adhesion Promoter: Autozone sells a primer that's used for plastic. Spray a couple of light coats, let it dry & the paint will stick to the plastic much better. 3) Use a clear bin to avoid debris & grasshoppers from ruining your paint: When your console is drying, you can put a plastic bin over it to avoid any leaves, bugs or dust from sticking to your paintjob. Just put it on top of your console like a dome & it'll protect it while it's drying. 4) Do a light coat then two heavy coats: The first coat of paint should be light & some of the white plastic should still be visible. Once that coat dries after about 10 minutes, then you can do a second heavier coat, followed by a third heavy coat to get a smooth finish.

Big thing when spraying is make sure you have a spray paint that will adhere to plastic and not bubble up or separate on the plastic surface when you start spraying. In saying that if you want to change the look vinal decals are the safer bet to change the look of your console.

With my paint jobs, depending on color. Say like a dark blue, I like to paint several coats of a sealant coat (clear coat). The more coats, the deeper you can make it look. This is however kinda expensive and if you're not careful because clear coat likes to run. The good thing though is it is possible to whet sand and buff any imperfections so long as they're not too bad.

Spray left to right rapidly that way the paint gets on it easier but also that way your not spraying it in one area mainly all areas rapidly with the paint particles covering it completely but left with a clean but dryer surface I did this with all my projects.
