Identifying the jacking points on unibody construction car is not the problem for me, it's identifying the points where the jack stand should be placed after the car is jacked up.

The sides are your friend, my cars lowered so it’s a bit more annoying for me but I get the jack under the side first and if I’m doing the front I just slide the stand under the front cross member

Question: My manual shows the jack points. I'm assuming it's intended for using the scissor jack it comes with in the trunk. If I want to use a hydraulic jack and use the jack points, how do I identify where to place the jack stands? The area around the jack points on my vehicle is all flatten plastic and if the hydraulic jack is on the jack point, where do I put the jack stands? there is a plastic cover under my car i need to remove to even see the frame. It looks like the newer vehicles try not to put any information on how to service your vehicle and are trying to force you into the dealership servicing department. My car has a cover underneath my car so I can't even locate the frame. Not sure how i'm suppose to take the cover off. I don't really want to get under there while the hydraulic jack is holding up my car.

Thanks! Could you show us the jack points on a 2014/2015 Chevy Spark? These cars no longer come with jacks and lug wrenches. They come with tire repair kits. Ok but there are still times you need to jack the car! I am trying to teach my daughters how to change their tires and I am not certain where to place the jack. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

We have a 2016 Honda CRV AWD. The jack points are what I use all the time. However, I would like an opinion on something, because I'm going to buy one of those pneumatic, air bladder jacks (balloon type) to make life easier. Sure, I can lift the car from the usual spots. However, I wonder if it would be ok to lift on that frame part that is between the 2 jack points? The jack points, which jut down, are part of a kind of frame thing which goes between the 2 jack points. But I don't know if the center is as strong as where the jack points are. So I wonder if there's anyone with experience in this? Thanks in advance.

Look at the manual? yes. My problem is the manual is shite. And the graphic identifying the points is as clear as mud. Thanks, this was a great video. I learned a thing about the torque wrench. Might be too late for mine... but I'll remember to release the pressure on it in the future

Yes, this guy is good because he learned from his mistakes! I took automotive classes in college for fun to be able to work on my own cars properly and because I like to know the why of things and how to prevent or extend time between failures through lots of research, and dont want to get ripped off by mechanics (I am a scientist at heart so every think goes through a scientific process in my mind). I have worked with several guys on fixing their cars in their garage and every man I have ever know (except a master mechanic who had worked on everything from tanks to school buses) did lots of things VERY wrong and you cant tell them they are wrong because they will say they have done it like this before. What they dont understand is yes, you can do something wrong and it wont immediately fail but in a yr or less it will and you wont know it what it was or even when it fails in a big way until there is an accident. I had a question for a neighbor and he ended up putting on my brakes which I did not want him to do (he thought I was taking too long but mistook caution for lack of knowledge) and ended using a product for airplanes that he thought was better because it was rated for airplanes! I said just because it is rated for airplanes doesnt make it better. Turns out I was right. After looking into it, it only goes to 300F which is not high enough rated for brake work and he didnt put lube where the piston meets the back of the brake pad (which already had a tiny nick in the rubber) so now I have to redo it in 100F heat. I HATE when MEN try to pretend to KNOW something when they never even bothered to read instructions or learn or look into something with some depth! My god, with computers how easy is it to look something up these days! The vast majority of men I have found, do things very incorrectly and only by the grace of god or pure luck do they end up not killing people. If people want to disregard the instructions, fine but make sure you read them 1st and have a damn good logical, well researched alternative. Dont just start using whatever sounds good and then give it to someone with a family of children and act like you KNOW it will work when you havent even used it yourself long enough! Men are the worst about safety. At least this guy has paid attention to mistakes and made corrections even if he didnt read instructions that came with the adjustable torque wrench (not all of them come with it but men are notorious for not reading anything anyway). Simply put, there are some really great tips in this video that should be stated by ANYONE trying to show others the CORRECT way to do something. There are times people need to be creative and go against the standard practice BUT you NEED to know what is the standard practice to begin with before you start making alterations and I have found that most guys that work on cars, dont even know very basic safety practices. This video gets my very rare stamp of approval, very well done sir, you have addressed some important things that others do not.

Lifting under the double welds is not a good idea. Sheet metal bends. The scissor jack that comes with the vehicle should have a slot that allows the weight to be next to the double weld, not under it.
