Be careful where you buy your Shea Butter from. I can't imagine an authentic Shea Butter smelling like lard.

It will smell like a nut. Real Shea butter smells nutty.

Most Shea Butter usually have 3 year shelf life. Keep in mind that Refined Shea Butter will last longer than unrefined ones. Ask the supplier of your shea butter for the expiration date.
