Super helpful! I'm an underwriter and I think slowing down could help a lot. I sometimes want to get through the novel quickly so I can get to scenes I'm looking forward to, but it makes more sense to work slowly to ensure the novel works at the beginning, otherwise it can fall apart at the midpoint 😃

What I've found that's helped me with writing multiple POV's is looking at the narrative from a chronological lens. For instance, if one character's actions occur in the beginning of the day, and a 2nd character's actions occur toward the evening. Creating a grounded sequence of events can help flesh out the narrative in how one character experience's the story's day compared to the next. Even if two characters are sharing a scene together (like an intense fantasy castle siege or an espionage laden dance floor with sultry dressed spies negotiating with a criminal party guest), you have that linear reference point to help organize how a scene goes down from different viewpoints of a story beat.

It's difficult to fast draft and then rewrite. I found i was adding things that were said usually later in the scene. Found it hard to write and match the 'feeling' of the scene to beef it up. So now i take my time.

George Martin does a great job finagling multiple character point of views and weaving them together in Game of Thrones. If you ever read the books as opposed to watching the shows, you will get much richer story and closer experience with the characters. Unfortunately for Martin he never finished his Game of Thrones story. It's believed he encountered writer's block managing too many characters. Progress had to be made. The powers that be who waited for Martin to finish a book so they could start filming it weren't patient enough. They offloaded the story to Benioff and Weiss where two rushed the story to mediocre end that the audience either liked or disliked leaving Game of Thrones as a lackluster overall story.

Is 55k-70k a considerable word count for agents?

I'm not an agent, but most novels are at least 80K. What you have sounds like a novella, which is a lot harder to get traditionally published

Depends on the genre. That would be low for Epic Fantasy for example, but high for a Middle Grade.

I know this doesn’t have to do with the video, but do you have expertise on writing programs or studies. I started a university study (political science) earlier this year but I found out that wasn’t it. After some more research, I still mostly gravitate towards studies at the university, this time more language oriented (English, American Studies and Linguistics are the remaining competitors). I still don’t know if the research aspect, intrinsic to universities, suits me, though. There was one other study that caught my attention; Creative Writing. It would definitely gel well with my biggest hobby, but I’m unsure if I want to go all-out on my writing by attending such a course. Besides, there are two rounds you have to advance through in order for you to get picked. And, I kind of want to get started again after the summer, but I haven’t been to an open day, and the first one is in November. I’m just kind of throwing this question into this comment section and if anyone has some knowledge on it, please feel free to share it with me.

Someone who writes consistently below their word count goal. Also a writer who daylights as an insurance agent lol
