If the dog is registered in the AKC or CKC, it's purebred. In Canada, it's illegal to say the dog is purebred and not provide registration papers.

Nothing about the colors? You've got puppy shops selling what they call Miniature Schnauzers, but they're white or white with spots, and they weigh like 10 lbs. fully grown. These are NOT the real thing, which are black, black and silver, or salt and pepper (gray). Some of the dogs in this video do not at all look like Miniature Schnauzers.

I've had schnauzers since I was 4 years old (on my 7th -- several of mine were shelter dogs) and totally agree. I do not like the toys (pocket dogs) they are breeding now. My current rescue schnauzer is parti colored (white with a grey saddle). She's about 16 pounds but not healthy. I believe breeding for recesssive traits like white (or parti) coloring and toy size breeds in poor health. If you go way back to the Germans who developed the breed, schnauzers included dogs who looked like wire-haired fox terriers. This coloring was bred out of them by the Germsns to distinguish the schnauzer breed. Leave the size and color alone and breed for health!

We just got a very healthy and robust puppy who's about 19 lbs now at 5 months. Salt and pepper. We couldn't be happier! @@kinjo5416

Not all countries doc their dogs' tails (or ears). Or did you mean a natural "shorter than most" type of tail and used

Anyone can dock a tail and leave eyebrows and beard long. This does NOT mean the dog is Purebred. And puppy mills are really pumping out "rare" dogs.

Sorry but you are wrong on some points. My mini has blue eyes and a Megacoat but is as much a purebred as any. You must be a AKC snob. My mini is also liver and tan. You need to know your breeder and understand that the AKC and Minischnauser clubs have limited views but that doesn't mean your mini isn't a purebred schnauzer.

Schnauzers do not have blue eyes. Therefore it is a mixed breed and your breeder is a scammer.
