I have the 2016 imac fully loaded, apparently considered obsolete by apple and I also have a 2018 macbook pro with 32gb ram and a 1TB SSD

Having the same problem. As if GoPro Player is disregarding that setting and "world lock" is always on when exporting.

i would keep it to either 24fps or 30fps, otherwise you're dropping down to 720p video quality by shooting 60fps.

Prores is a Mac only container… you’ll have to use cineform or dnxhd if it’s offered…. Sorry for the one year delay haha

try inserting your micro sd card into a reader. I sometimes have issues when trying to plug the gopro straight into the computer.

I haven’t experienced that while playing it back but I generally play back at half resolution because the file sizes are so large.

@@joshwhitee oh really :( I spent almost 3k on this Mac just for it to go crazy loud when exporting. my 7 year pc does it just as good

For sure I think I got to a point where I was ready to be done the video. It went through a bunch of revisions etc. And audio suffered but I will do better! Thanks for checking it out!

Hey you're able to control all of your camera parameters in the gopro desktop app, then export with the preferred field of view. Hope that makes sense. Just takes some editing.

@@joshwhitee thank man I’m exactly looking for this: where do I find the field of view export parameters in Premiere? I’m sorry I know that is surely a dumb question but I wasn’t able to find them. I just can find of course the pan and tilt under the “gopro reframe” plugin effect settings, but I guess they are just meant to set keyframes during the editing to choose where the “main” pov is pointing to, but I guess that once I’ll export the user will be able to pan and tilt anyhow 360 in every direction. @@challengerapp3953 yeah it takes soome messing around in the app, but you are able to zoom in and out with the mouse scroll wheel i believe (i dont have any footage in front of me) but if you're looking for somewhere to punch in those exact degrees it's not quite that exact unfortunately. You just have to eyeball it.

@@joshwhitee I’m sorry man, I’m not sure I understand...It would be great if you could do a tutorial on this. As far as I understand from my first steps with a gopro max 1) the best car mount not to have the car roof or hood in the framing is mounting the camera 130cm ahead of the car so that when you pan -90 or +90 degrees the camera while editing or watching the video the car is not in the framing (but that kind of mount I think is illegal 😬) 2) 360 video are (before applying the gopro reframe plugin and then getting to a cropped and linear version of the original video) some sort of “rounded” all I can see footages coming from the 2 lenses. Thus the only way I see to limit the pan and tilt of the camera when watching the video on youtube (after exporting from Premiere I mean) is to draw like a black mask or something to limit the original footage and then make the video linear with the gopro reframe effect, so that maybe the final effect is seeing some black area when panning or tilting above those limits. Yes, you will never get a 5k export. GoPro makes it confusing when they say it’s a 5k sensor. It is capturing 5k worth of data but when you crop into your desired frame you’re only using a portion of that resolution. It’s a little confusing but 2k-3k is normally what you’ll end up with!

@@joshwhitee Sir I figured it out. I installed the pkg file of reframe plugin and now GoproPlayer is giving me the option to change the "projection" value as well. I still have to figure out how to trim and merge multiple 360 files in one youtube friendly 360 file. I know you can help. :)

I haven't tested them against each other, but CBR has always worked great for me.

Yes, 2-pass VBR usually gives the best quality with the smallest possible file size. I don't see a reason to use CBR to be honest.

How are you creating your timeline? Are you just dragging and dropping your footage directly onto a blank one or creating a 4k timeline before hand?

@@joshwhitee I tried both. I exported from the GoPro Play in 5.6K "Pro Res 422 HQ" just incase it mattered. I was playing with the zoom in the play app, hopefully that didn't matter. I also have used the GoPro Fusion and the oddly named Nikon Keymission 360, and I didn't have as many problems. I am running the PP Beta, updated nearly daily. I created a new 4K sequence (RED R3D>4K>4K 16x9 23.976) I first tried this with 29.97. Then I'm dragging the exported file from the GP play into this new empty playlist. I want to click on change settings, but I didn't. I dragged the GoPro plugin, and it gets small just like in your video. But when I set the Projection to "GoPro 4K 16:9 (3840x2160) it gets the border, not quite filling the window. I also use a Mac, and have since around 1992 (had an Apple IIgs before that). As an experiment, I uploaded a clip directly from the GoPro app from the same video I'm trying to get to work in Premiere to KZfaq, and it works as 360 without any issues. Hey you're best to take the micro sd out of the camera and use an SD card adapter. sometimes I find pulling footage out of the card while it's in the camera isn't as easy.

That one I don’t know the answer too unfortunately… maybe try exporting in dnxhd if it’s available?

did you scale the clip back up to the 4k option? scale it back up and you're all set.

mine does that too. recorded in 360 at 5.6k. when i reframe to 4k it has black border. scale already at 100

Micro SD card out of GoPro MAX, into an SD adapter, into an SD card read, into computer. Card shows up as a drive on your desktop. Double click that drive and select your files. ;) thought that part was pretty easy but you're totally right I did miss that step!
