On left side where you select instruments down bottom you'll find legacy, this will take you to the old garage band effects and samples, under radio effect you can still drag samplez on to key and play them out, there will be writing and extension arrow in bottom left corner of keyboard where it will list samples added. Also can chopped samples and drag them str8 to loop selection on right side they will convert automatically then can be dropped into keyboard

Out of most of all the you tube garageband posters, you would be the one that i can follow, thank you very much. I managed to use your video to help me put a sample into that keyboard synth and not im able to play around and see what kind of variations i can come up with. Thank you ✌🏾

It's very complicated - but thanks very much for finding a way to crack the new system. It's going to be very useful for me and I will work through your video carefully to see if I can import sounds from my tone generator.

I'm using GarageBand 10.3.2 and I'm able to use my midi keyboard as a soundboard using this method. I can load in crowd noise, clamping etc...I love it.

Hey Johnny, this is an amazing tutorial. Helped me a lot. One suggestion, before sharing, probably you wanna reduce the project length. If not, every time it will share the entire track and we want only the extracted piece. This can be done using dragging the end of the project in the ruler section.

This tutorial was awesome and super helpful. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I was able to create the custom sample. So my overall goal is to create a custom drop? Technically, I want to map this custom sample sound to a keyboard key and have the ability to press the key init the sound while recording the audio and said custom drop. Can't believe I couldnt find it on reddit.

Dude! I was trying to figure out how to do this on my own. And strangely I had randomly pulled in Etta James's "At Last" to try and figure it out to no avail. I finally broke down and searched for a KZfaq video on how to do it and your pulling in the exact same song! So weird. LOL had to share. Thanks for the tutorial BTW ;)

Yu do you know you can convert to WAV from MP3 in iTunes. Highlight the track/song and go to file - convert. Although i wasnt aware of changing the extension converting the file, the techie in me still wanted to pass this on.

That's what i'm looking for! I don't want to have big fat samples plugins that drains my processor. I just want to create samples of drumsound and place them on the keyboard in a comfortable order. This seems to be one way to do it. Just wonder if you then can save the whole drumset you create as a patch you can save in your user list? Great info. Thanks! :-)

In logic pro the sample is time stretched. So as you play the keys up and down the pitch changes but the length of the sample stays the same length

so my computer wouldn't allow me to extract the sample from garage band when transfering to itunes for some reason it kept crashing. ( i have a mac mini) But since all i needed was a wav file i open the mp3 file through audacity (free multi track friendly software which is super easy to use for both mac and windows) which is sooo much less work to chop samples on and edit with by the way. Then I exported my file as a wav file so I dont even need itunes involved ( which is a plus since i hate listening to music and bumping into samples on there too) and then I just followed your steps from there back on to garage band inputing it into the 'au instruments' > au sampler > plug in! Cheers pal you saved my ass hours of torture!
@Hope4myfriend7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that information. Don't you have to save the sample somehow in the sampler?

It might be faster to do the sample editing in Audacity (free) and convert to .mp3 or AIFF as you export from that to desktop. Thanks for a great vid.

thank for the video. you can use a free software called TX16WX to sample in GarageBand. I watched your video to see if the metronome was needed for sampling. lol, thanks. I got the TX sampler from another video.

How Can I get rid of the different speed levels? So when I click different keys, it's a different pitch but at the same speed. Thanks in advance, great video!

was wondering the same thing. looks like you need a different synth to preserve tempo: www.reddit.com/r/Logic_Studio/comments/5kgako/how_do_you_change_pitch_with_the_sampler_without/ Apparently Alchemy is in GB v2.2 of iOS but not previous, and I'm not sure about OS version: discchord.com/appnews/2017/01/18/alchemy-returns-inside-of-garageband here's tutorials I found on Alchemy: www.reddit.com/r/Logic_Studio/comments/4h1wf0/how_do_i_load_an_audio_sample_into_alchemy/ ...hope this helps.

I have a question and I'm going to try to make as much sense of it as I can, and I really hope you can help... So, I've recorded my acoustic drum kit to a Tascam DP-02 digital recording studio, I've imported the recording onto my computer, and I've made it into a track in Garageband. I want to change the sound of my bass drum, snare, etc...; I guess you could say I'm trying to change the sound of my recording like you could with drum triggers or a drum module... But, Ive downloaded a bunch of drum samples that I would love for my drumset to sound like on the recording. I'm trying to insert those "outside samples/sounds/whatever" into Garageband so I can change the sound of my bass, snare, etc... like you did with the pitch of your voice sample. Any advice?! I've drove myself crazy trying to figure this out, and you're the closest thing I've came across in regards to changing sounds like I'd like to. Please let me know! Thanks!
