I have started learning English as my second at the age of 34 to speak out my first English words after a year of learning language. Language has to start in childhood or at least in adolescence.

That's impressive progress! While it's true that starting young can make language learning easier, many people successfully learn new languages as adults. Your determination and effort are key, and it's never too late to learn and improve your skills

@@BoboWay People began learning as adults, or they tried to do something with their second language from school. There are some big nuances between these cases. I had started by understanding a language which I had never studied before. I did not know why I had the ability to understand this language on the first day, when I moved to Ireland for work at the age of 34. The understanding of language is the first sign of having this language in my head, but my second English started working as my second after 18 years of struggling with it. I have more languages than one second language, English.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's amazing that you could understand a new language so quickly when you moved to Ireland. Your persistence with English over the years is truly inspiring and shows great determination. It's impressive that you know multiple languages! Keep pushing forward, your story is a testament to the power of dedication!

@@BoboWay I grew up in a country called the Soviet Union. When I was 16 or 17, the borders started to open in that country and American movies started to come out that were dubbed into Russian, but it wasn't done very professionally and there was often the original American language. I sat and enjoyed the movies without realizing that I had acquired a new language. But it wasn't easy to revive the language after the age of 30. I was lucky with some things until I was 30. But I don't know if everyone can do something at an age when the brain is no longer able to learn as it does when we are young. I could write in my will that I should have paid more attention to what was going on around me.😁

Your story is fascinating! It's incredible how exposure to movies helped you acquire a new language without even realizing it. Reviving a language later in life can indeed be challenging, but your experience shows that it's possible with dedication and effort. While learning might be different as we age, your journey demonstrates that it's never too late to pursue language skills. Reflecting on missed opportunities can inspire us to make the most of the present. Thank you for sharing your inspiring story!
