OMGoodness, I tried this on my Onyx studio 4 and expected nothing yet...it works. The midrange is so much clearer now. This is great for older folks like myself who listen to audiobooks. It also helps me enjoy much of the music I listen to. Thanks so much!

on pages 20 and 21 in the user's manual there is information about the possibility of adjusting the timbre. Pressing the combination of the Bluetooth and - buttons adjusts the bass strength. pressing the combination of the Bluetooth and + buttons adjusts the treble level. the scale for each adjustment is 3 steps.

It is a code that is used in the factory for an extra test. It is not intended to be used at home to continue playing music. Playing in that mode for too long will damage the speaker. The speaker undergoes a factory test for decibels and frequencies. Then the mode returns to normal and the speaker lasts longer.

do you, by any chance, know how to adjust the on/off sound volume? I love my onyx 8 but god the on/off sound is so loud I cant use it when people sleep!

@@eyedl did you ever figure out how to adjust the sound volume for the on/off and BT pairing? I was walking around the house at night and it scared the hell out of me when my pc restarted and reconnected

@@eyedl thanks for the update! You know, for a "$500" speaker, the sound is great, but figuring out how to do anything else with it is nigh impossible. The manual is really sparse on actual info too...

As Emmauel N mentioned above, press the + and - together will work for Studio 8. But sorry to say that this trick is only take out the bass off, and when you press again the two buttons, the bass will be back again to it's default tone, NOT giving the bass more for 20%.

And how do you know that combo of the buttons work? I tried on mine (onyx 8) and feel no difference, how much time you need to press + and -?

Hello - I definitely recommend a soundbar for TV - try the LG Sn4 that is cheap but good or the JBL BAR 2.1 that is very good at 250 USD!

Studio 7 is good with tv and specially with movies, but i have small apartment. Maybe not that good in bigget apartment.

DO NOT DO THIS... The louder EQ kicks in when you plugin the speaker to a power source. The lower volume EQ is likely programmed to optimize the battery usage...

I noticed it bumps more plugged it but bruh 2hr at max play when fully charged no power source is a shame everyone around gets in the mood about in that time 💀

Esta mal el videoooo, si presionas el botón Bluetooth y el de menos, se ajusta el nivel de bajo, tiene tres niveles, si parpadea el led en rojo una vez, nivel 1, dos veces nivel 2 y 3 pues nivel 3. Si lo presionas nuevamente regresa al nivel 1. Asimismo con el brillo pero con el botón más, el led parpadeará amarillo. De nada. (Pagina 20 del manual)

I believe that Harman introduced this "low frequency" mode for the brand to become famous, just like what happened with JBL. JBL became famous because of the videos in which people activated the low frequency mode and put the box to play....

my studio 7 has started to turn off on it's on and constantly disconnects from Bluetooth. I was never a big fan of the sound when it worked, too boomy I gave up on it and purchased another brand that sound fantastic.

The video is bad, if you press the Bluetooth button and the bottom -, the bass level is adjusted, it has three levels, if the red LED flashes once, level 1, level 2 and 3 twice, then level 3. If it is press it again it returns to level 1. Likewise with the brightness but with the + button, the led will flash yellow. You are welcome. (Page 20 of the manual)

i just purchased the 8..my question is can i use it while plug in the ac outlet??will it damage the battery while doing that?i heard others say its completely fine while using it while its plug in..thanks

you can use it while plugged until fully charged. if you keep it plugged in while fully charged, overtime you will wear down the battery, and in return have less play time

@@jhad0205 when charging the speaker, if it needs it, the led light that usually lights white will turn red. when fully charged, it will go back to white. THIS IS IMPORTANT! before you unplug your speaker, power it off. if not, it will mess with the charging port and create looseness overtime

I assume that it would beep beep when low battery. If it doesn't, you'll know the battery is too low when the music stops playing ;)

feel you; found this video looking how to reduce this weird bass. For my Onyx 8 worked simultaneous press to + and - for a couple of seconds (10?), it will disable ultra bass. Pressing again will turn it on again

Well i am not going to tell anyone not to do this. Try it out. but you will not hear that the sound will improve. You will be setting it to Mono. The lauder sound doesn't come with bass and the sound will be scratchy.

On my Onyx4...it must be done each time you turn on the unit. Sometimes its worth it such as if you are going to listen to an audiobook'

If you want waterproof get the onyx 6 it’s cheaper by a little and sounds basically the same but has a little more bass

I bought my Onyx 4 last year when HK had a sale of this model. I believe I received new-old stock (NOS) and the battery is weak. Perhaps 3 hours yet I see replacement batteries are readily available on eBay etc...MAybe I will replace mine next year as an experiment.

The function turning off bass sound in the onyx 7 is useless. It is just for testing not in ordinary listening music circumstance.

This vid is lies i did it and all it does it makes my HK 7 sound very louder with no bass to adjust it and when i turn back to bass mode it just sounds the same again don't put it loud or else it will completely destroy your subwoofer

Yes, this turn the bass all the way down, with no crossovers working. It's just a programming mode, not useful for the final consumer.

@@GODSONDJ I am agree with you. This trick only take the bass off that makes the speaker sounds funny 😅. And when you press again the buttons for 8 sec, the bass will be back again to it's DEFAULT tone. It does NOT give the bass more for 20%.

@@doelbedil8408 Yeah. I had basically all the Onyx's lines, since the 4; and this trick means sh|t sound and nothing more in all the Onyx's.
