Sage and Sandy - what I like about you both is that you are a) authentic and b) very nice people; and you can tell that you genuinely want to help people. (FYI Sage has taken the trouble to reply to 3 personal e-mails from me; one of them relating to a famous athelete who is trying to help former South African Comrades Athletes who are struggling to support themselves and their families. In this day and age many people flatter to deceive and are only interested in helping if there is an obvious upside for them - Sage and Sandy are not in this group.

Benn doing "strides" at the end of my jogs lately and it works. Also I been practicing/trying to figure out how running at 170+ SPM is effective and you only feel it if you practice it over and over again. The methods explained by you Sage, works. Thanks for motivating me to be a more efficient runner!

Knee drive does nothing for running efficiency. Simply pulling up your leg to your butt and simply bringing your knee forward to get your forefoot to strike under your centre of mass, is all that is needed.

Okai, now I know how my love for sprinting improves my easy runs, I started running a couple of months ago after 10 years of nothing, I just love doing sprints at the speed I can make a couple ofrepetitions, I just did these sprints because of the thrill of moving fast on my bare feet, now I see that it is usefull for distance running.

Jason Van Mill this is not increasing cadence i.e stride rate, but stride length
@TheHonestRates
@TheHonestRates 7 жыл бұрын
yes i understand. For me, i'm tall and have tried to increase my cadence...i'm usually around 155-160...when i run faster...say a sub 8 min mile, mile cadence increases pretty high (200) and i get worn out quickly. By picking up my speed and lengthening my stride, i'm able to not increase my cadence so much which is helping with endurance (about 180). Thanks for the video

Hi Sage, I was wondering which of the Hoka models you've been using lately. I am looking to buy the new Bondis for Christmas for myself, and would love your input on what you might be using right now since you have direct experience with Hoka models. I'm also considering using a Hoka trail runner since I run through lots of dirt and rocks to get to my road trail which is asphalt. Is there a Hoka model which does well with both surfaces? Thanks man, you're the best.

Hi Sage, I'm surprised you didn't mention downhill running for improving stride length. Running down a slight downhill grade allows you to open your stride without taxing your cardio as much, meaning you can do more strides without going anaerobic. It's also pretty good for turnover too. What do you think?
@lindatalla2945
@lindatalla2945 5 жыл бұрын
I have trouble with downhill running due to overstriding obviously causing pain. So, I slow down almost instantly while going downhill. I don't really know how to fix this. Now, your statement confuses even more on how to do it. Any video you may suggest? Or advice? I'm new to running but I'm fit, have plenty of stamina and great leg strength.

Hi Sage... To be honest I bought 3 pairs of Hoka one one shoes due to seeing you wearing those shoes... I bought clifton.. Bondi 5 and vanquish...and out of the 3 frankly I just feel suitable with the Vanquish..the other 2 are bad shoes for me. I wear adidas boost and found the line of boost ( ultra, pure and solar) are great for me in terms of responsiveness...cushioning and lightweight). Anyway I would like thank you tor helping me increasing my speed in running by improving the technique and form from your videos. Keep on sharing your knowledge Sage...

My turnover rate is in the recommended range, but I am running too slow (8:00 minute mile average). In fact my son who runs much faster (on school track team), told me I am not taking long enough steps. And running next to him, we are both around 5'10 height, and his stride is longer. (My legs spin like an egg beater compared to him.) Since I already have a fast turnover rate, the only way for me to go faster, is to increase stride, correct? But I had read in several places, that increasing stride length can lead to injury, because of harder pounding and leading leg acting more like a "brake". Maybe I read wrong? I will try the training approach mentioned in the video, because I feel like I have the potential to run much faster.

I also thought he was in a Clifton 3 there in the video. It was my first hoka and I was hooked. At this point you probably realized the 4 was not as good as the 3. The 5 I enjoyed a bit but once I tasted bondi there was no going back to the Clifton for me. Also tried that new carbon x on in the shop and trotted around... Now that shoe seems awesome. I am impressed with the light / fast yet cushioned feel. Pricy though
