Hi, you put a 5v zener or 12v zener? Thanks!

Thanks for the video - LJC18A3-H-Z/BX Capacitance Proximity Sensor Switch NPN NO DC 6-36V 300mA 1-10mm Normally Open Used a IN4004 diode (silver end at the signal connection (BLACK) / other side connected to earth (BLUE) and (BROWN) = 12vdc) After this setup the value from the signal pin still reads 8vdc plus (didn't fry my re-arm board pin) connected this signal output to a LM7805 to reduce to 5vdc /more safer - Have tried resistors to change voltage to 12v to 4.**v but didn't work. Keep up the good work!

Why dind't work with resistors?

Nice video. You should include a resistor in series with your zener diode (connect it to the cathode end) to allow the 12 volts supply voltage to drop 7 volts across the resistor. If you don't include a "dropping" resistor, you're forcing your circuit board to "drop" the 7 volts were ever it can. Not a good idea. The resistor also limits current through the zener, so it won't over heat. An internet search will find many examples of how to connect a zener and how to size the resistor. You don't actually require a zener. You can connect two resistors in series from your sensor output to ground. If the resistors were, say 15k and 10k with the latter connected to ground, the voltage across the 10k resistor and ground would be slightly under 5volts, which is fine. Good luck.

It worked perfect on the CR10 S5. It has a 2 pin connector and I used a multimeter to find ground. Thanks for the video.

Is the red wire connected to + or - on the board?
@JohnSmith-mk8hz
@JohnSmith-mk8hz 4 жыл бұрын
@@3D_printer_guy I didn't have a red wire. My probe had a black, blue and brown wire. The brown went to + on a fan terminal, the black and blue went to the endstop pins.

Well not so high, between 1cm and few mm, the lower the better for better accuracy

Hello! I have some questions too: -Why did you use a zener diode? - what role does that diode play? - the diode is for 5 V? - I have an ALfawise U30 printer with auto-leveling integrated in the software, if I put the inductive sensor I still have to make set in g code?
@IMeltPlastic
@IMeltPlastic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey ! Well the zener diode is the only way i found to make my sensor work. I guess it's for 5v :) normaly if your sensor as 3 pin ( + signal and - ) it should work the same :)
