How to install a bathroom exhaust fan (Full Installation)

Hello guys! In this video I show you how to make a full installation of a bathroom exhaust fan. I show you how to install the wiring, how to cut the hole in the ceiling and how to install the electrical switch. I hope that you find this video helpful. Please keep in mind that working with electricity in dangerous and if you don't feel comfortable or have no experience working with it you should get professional help.

Very nice work. One see See the confidence in you. A small suggestion regarding taping around the screws. I always do it, as it gives a little bit more insurance. I’m not a pro, but I have done many electrical projects. Thanks to mostly standardized and very innovative products, I find electrical work to be very interesting. Of course SAFETY FIRST. I like the double toggle switch. I have not come across that one

Buen video. Es exactamente lo que tengo que hacer en mi proyecto de un baño que estoy reconstruyendo. No soy electricista pero he llevado electricidad y magnetismo y sistemas digitales y circuitos AC/DC en la escuela. Mi problema es con los códigos, creo que el 12/2 como mencionaste es suficiente. Tengo 1800 watts disponibles.

make sure to insulate your vent piping next time so it doesn’t sweat in the attic

If you installed the flex hose in the attic, I think it should be of the insulated type. Condensation can build up on that uninsulated hose in cold weather.

At 10:23 why did you leave the tab in the center? Do you HAVE to leave it in or would it make a difference if you remove that tab for this particular wiring job?

I have a fan with light i want to work together when switched. Is the instalation pretty much the same? Exact thing you have here, just a light with fan.

Correct!. Just make sure you join together the fan and the light wire together with the black wire coming from the switch. Thanks for watching!

Todo depende del circuito existente. En este caso se utilizo cable #12 por qoe el circuito era de 20 amperes pero tambien puede ser de 15 amperes el cual requiere in cable #14. Gracias por el apoyo!

You can install a soffit exhaust vent if you want or have a roofing contractor to intall a roof exhaust. The secon option is a little more complicated and expensive. Good luck!

Hi, found out my builder did not vent my bathroom exhaust fan to outside. Who do I call to run the ducts to the side of the house? An electrician, hvac?

Could also possibly pull one of the existing electrical wires up the hole like a pull string with your current Romex attached. Then pull the existing back down with the new cable.

When you have to make holes in the wall to pull wire use stud finder and save the drywall piece mud backin and buy some texture spray and paint you will not even see it no fear of making holes it is just the process

Wait. How did you know where to cut in the ceiling? You made it exactly to where you can screw the fan to the wooden beam

Hello, I did by knocking on the ceiling and by sound but you can use a stud finder to be sure where the stud is. Once you find the stud you want to use the stud as a guide and cut along the stud and from there make the square.

All houses and scenarios are different but I would say is a 2hr average job give or take. Depends on the attic (if any), the framing, the ductwork, etc.

All really depends on the specific scenario but you can expect to be charged $550- $750 depending on where are you located. The exhaust fan is supplied by the customer. Good luck!

I installed a fan in the bathroom using the existing light switch, but when the switch is off the fan runs then when I turn the switch on the light come on and the fan goes off, what is going on ? Help helpp😢
