Bicycle water bottle cages are essential during any bike ride. And in this video I’ll show you how to install one on your bike. Pretty much all bottle cages are mounted with two screws through these holes. The set I bought comes with it’s own Allen screws and washers but might not be needed.
Before installing, check to see that nothing is blocking like gearing hardware. Check the 2nd bottle location if your bike has one. Now use an Allen wrench and remove the two bolts in the bike frame. This is the Specialized Pitch mountain bike and has 2 water bottle mounting places. And as you can see we won’t be needing the screws that came with the bottle cages. Now line the mounting holes with the holes on the frame. Take the screws and hand tighten them back onto the frame. Then take the Allen wrench and tighten the bottle cage securely. If you have a second bottle cage, repeat the steps I just went over. Now you’re ready to stay hydrated on your ride!

i just felt so dumb. i was downstairs trying to screw it into that like wtf this doesn't work. i didn't realize i had to take those screws out and then back in ( i was using the screws the cage came with ) lmao that God for youtube.

Any screw that goes into your bike frame, you should put some lube on the entire threaded area. This prevents it from fusing together over time. Same for pedals in cranks, seat post in seat tube etc. Metal on metal will fuse.

You can use the original screws that are on your bike for the bottle cage. Or you can use the new ones. It doesn’t matter which ones. It’ll be the same. Hope this helps!

Are you sure it's meant for 2 water bottle holders..or is one meant for a bike pump attachment?? My bike pump attachment fits perfectly on either set-up :)

I’m sure the other spot on the bike can be used for an air pump! I bought 2 bottle cages but I’m sure manufacturers can create other accessories that use the same mounting positions for other types of products! But that spot would be great for an air pump! Thanks for watching!

I think that maybe a half inch Allen screw would work for the water bottle cage. It doesn’t have to be a long screw. Hope this helps!

I'm not sure the exact size I used. I just kept trying until one fit. But you're in a situation where the one you need is probably the one you're missing out of your set! Do you have allen wrenches left over from furniture like from IKEA? I always have extra allen wrenches lying around from furniture I've assembled. Maybe you have one that will fit?

The bottle cage won’t scratch your bike frame. Once it’s bolted on it doesn’t move. It sits right against the frame and sometimes the holes for the bolts are raised slightly on some bikes so the only contact point is where the screws meet the frame.

What are the washers used for then?

Oh I probably should've used the washers. But the washers help keep the screws tight and provide a flat surface for the screw head to rest against when tightened. But the surface of the bottle cage was pretty smooth. The washer can also help protect the surface that the screw is tightened on.

I only put 1 on my new bike. Hmmm... maybe i should put on a 2nd. Water is important. I have a folding lock but it comes with velcro straps so i might just use them since i wont need my lock that often. And then use my 2nd bracket for either a pump or 2nd water bottle. I wish there was more local water fountains but all the ones i see in my town are out of order plus there's none on bike trails obviously.

If you've got the room put two bottle cages on. Better to have more water with you than not enough. Plus you won't get weighed down with water bottles in a backpack if you're wearing one!

Didn’t your bottle cages come with its own mounting screws? Also a lot of bikes have the screws already in the frame of the bike. If not the easiest place to find them is a bicycle shop.

The tool I used at :26 is called an Allen wrench or hex wrench. You can get them in sets with several sizes. Hope this helps!

Love the bike design kzfaq.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L and functionality. It is hard to align the front tired to center the disk brakes. The brake wheel touches the stationery side of the brake caliper and pad. I aired the tire up to 40 psi as the markings say 40-60psi. Left the house for a few hours and came back to an exploded innertube.All in all it seems to be a good bike. Have not ridden it yet though so that's the max of my knowledge. Update, put a new innertube made sure the tire was set properly and it did the same thing in under 20 minutes as second pic shows.

You don’t need to use the screws that came with the bike. The bottle holders usually come with their own screws so you can use those instead. Hope this helps!
