Does this become slippery when wet? I want to resurface my patio, which currently has tile and become very slippery when coming out of the pool.

Everything is easy on a little sample board, try the 2,000-4,000 sf floors I lay down. Inside corners, walls, shit in the way, good luck at this pace

Is that just regular masking tape or something stronger
@stoneedgesurfaces3959

Stronger...it is "filament tape" with long strands of nylon in it.

Uh, that looks like “wood” with grout in between the boards. A look you don’t really see unless you tile your floor with wood looking tiles. Which might be easier. They sell wood graining tools that are easy to use and don’t leave repetitive patterns and look better then pool trowel streaks. Also the paint going from board to board make it look just a lil hokey.

Great comments...Actually you are right on...A tape down look "is" a tile look with grout lines. Tape down applications do have their place as many times you don't want vinyl and want the durability of concrete and want a tile look, but don't have the "height" or space needed to add the height of a true tile with grout underneath. Or, you may not have the space for the 3/8" needed for stamped concrete overlay. Or...Or...you don't want the hassle of tile and grouting and want an easier solution that still looks pretty good. Or...you want a better look than plain concrete but don't have the money for wood or tile...and a tape down application (both layers) go on so thinly, you use a relatively small amount of product, which brings the material and sqft cost way down. You are also correct..there are tools you can buy and stamps that will give you a different wood grain or other look.This video is just a part of our classes for contractors that teaches how to use existing tools and a little technique to achieve a pretty decent, unique and custom tile look. At the end of the video...if a wood tile look is not what you like...there are examples of using all the same techniques, but instead of using a pool trowel to create a wood tile look, you use texture skins, and create square, or ashlar pattern tiles in single colors like the Gray tile look in the video or multiple colors like the Ashlar Slate look in the video. We even threw in one wood look that has straight grain lines...that was done with a "broom"...showing again, you can create great tile looks with existing tools and equipment and minimal colors.You are also correct...if you want tile or wood floors...there are lots of options for those as well. But our classes and the products we manufacture are all about Concrete Overlay and the different looks you can achieve like wood, tile, brick, stone, etc...without just a couple bags of product.

Good point. I didn’t think about height restrictions. I work in he film industry building movie sets. We do faux stone, cinder block, brick, and cement walls with structolite and we make our own texture stamps and what not but I do like the products you guys use. I think for the movies it would be too heavy as we have to move walls for different shots but I think the next time one of my buddies wants some work done on their house, I’ll show them your videos and see if they want to let me order up some product.

Our wall mix is lighter than standard concrete...and is used over Styrofoam block and panels all the time for sets, rock features, faux boulders, etc. and some movie sets in the past...before I took over a couple years ago. Would love to have you try them out and see if they could work for your needs. Send me an email at bruce@stoneedgesurfaces.com and ill get you some to try out if you are interested.
