Thanks Matt, I reinstalled yesterday and tested today. Images are better and Autochart stopped losing bottom and is charting perfectly even at 38mph.

Why place a mounting block on the hull if you are screwing all the way through it into the hull?

generally they epoxy the mounting blocks to the hull

The mounting block has 2 screws that I can see one on each side

In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens kzfaq.infoUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Excellent video! I'm not sure if I agree of drilling through the board and the hull other than the two screws that are designed to hold the board to the hull. I didn't drill through the hull for the transducer mounting bracket and I hope it is solid enough.

I thought the purpose of those blocks was to keep you from drilling holes in your boat.

So, I notice the mounting block on that Lund is right down on the bottom edge of the transom...Isn't the water deflecting on the block causing a little turbulence? And won't that cause the "bubbles" to run across the bottom of the transducer?

I’ve got a couple questions, just got a helix 7 si. In the directions it says the transducer needs to be at least 15 inches either side of the propeller. Mine came with a plastic transom mount which in the directions it says to place 1/8 inch from the bottom of the boat, the transducer the man clips into the mount putting it almost 1 1/2 inches under the boat. Did Humminbird just send a general set of directions?

How close can you put two transducer s, Humminbird SI and a Lowrance transducer, opposite sides of the main motor? I already have a Lowrance transducer on the right side, and a kicker on the left of the main motor. How much interference would the kicker do to the Humminbird SI/DI ?

Here can I find those plates at? I have a Lund Deep V 18 foot currently never came with those mounting plates. Plus I just purchased the Lowrance 3 in 1 for the Elite T12 what do you suggest for the angle of that transducer? Everything I have seen so far is to mount it level about 1/2 inch below the boat surface any help would be appreciated.

The height is set correctly, but the downward angle is the worst idea you can add to SI. Level transducers pick up much more data compared to the downward angle.

DONT FORGET YOU HAVE THE WEIGHT IN THE BOAT SO YOUR TRANSOM IS LOWER IN THWEWATER

@@jamesjenkot5750 yes, you find the angle of a known spot on the floor both left to right and front to back. Pull the boat up on dry land, replicate angles from the water that you measured, and level the transducer both directions. For best SI results, these angles should be measured at the boat speed which the user will use SI the most. By angling the transducer down, in conjunction with the weight of the transom, this points the SI cone way ahead of the boat and reduces the returns.

I leveled my transducer like you did, but if you watch all other videos, they’re showing you to drive the boat 3 miles an hour level on the side of the boat with pennies and quarters come back level the trailer to that height and transducer to that level question question will they be the same The tip down you have the level in them

Your "Center chine" is called The Keel". A chine is where the bilge turns up into the sides of the hull. There are only 2; Port and Starboard. I think you may be thinking of a lifting strake.

u have to install sensor at the same side as prop rotation direction to avoid undesired Interference from turbulence

One potential issue I'd be interested in hearing about -- when he drops his motor down, did it interfere with the side imaging? Looks like it might. Thanks for the vid, appreciate it!

By adding it in the back, do I loose imaging on one side because if the motor blocking the sonar wave

Quick question my hummingbird whenever I turn it on on the side imaging it just looks like lines. Should the transducer be completely submerged in water and parallel with the bottom of the boat or should it be parallel with the water meaning the top should be exposed on the transducer in the bottom should be submerged in water.

Don't follow this dudes install split the transducer 1/2 below 1/2 above the bottom get it in between the chines lookup coin level transducer video on YT go out run ur boat like 5mph bcuz who's scanning on plane bring a level put coins under the level at 5mph to make the level be level get the boat back on trailer put those same amount of coins under the level go up or down on ur trailer jack to make the bubble level now put the level on the transducer level the bubble tighten down make sure u don't throw it outta level when tightening enjoy

I disagree on drilling bracket screws all the way into the transom. Your saying that those 17 holes on that board are all the way thru the transom?

hopefully those holes have sealant blocking water from entering the bilge, but I'm not sure about this set up.

What's the point of using a mounting block if you're going to drill into the boat?

By using the mounting block, if you want to reposition the transducer or get a different transducer, you’ll be drilling into the block instead of drilling more holes into the stern. Edit: I didn’t notice that he actually drilled every hole through the block into the transom!

when your boat is moving it with angle backwards slightly and this will allow it to run parallel with the water

We just got an 88 ranger 393v mounted the transducer to where the bottom of the boat and transducer are flush. I used the previous owners holes from their old unit. I have a helix 5 di si gen4 so it's the little stubby transducer. I noticed that when I pointed it down like your video said I could finally read depths at 30 mph. Anything over 30 my signal is choppy and sometimes it will give error reading such as 73 feet deep when in reality it's 13. Do I need to drop the transducer down so it's aboutb1/2 to 1/4 below the bottom of the first edge of the boat? Sorry if it's a stupid question, new to all of this

what happens to the transducer during launch and putting it back on the trailer and during transport, does the transducer flip up to protect it? Do you have to use wrenches every time you want to move it up or down? Thanks

No,The transducer doesn’t move at all.Once installed and tightened to desired position,your done messing with it,When the boat gets unloaded and loaded,The transducer isn’t in the way at all.

So Matt you don’t agree with all the guys that say you need to level your transducer while your boat is going roughly 3-4 mph? Doesnt that transducer angle drop even further when you put the boat in gear and add guys and equipment? Thanks for the video!

I have to have mine at a 6 degree pitch up since I sit so low in the rear. But I’m going to try this and see what my arcs look like.

Whoa. Seriously you’re drilling through the mounting block into the boat? Smh, that totally defeats the purpose of the block which allows adjustments with only the two holes for the block. Also, the transducer shouldn’t even be close to skimming the water if you’re following the Humminbird directions. It will be completely submerged at all times. Lastly you really torqued down on the transducer when you tightened it. It’s better for it to give if you hit something rather than the bracket or transducer ripping off the transom.
